I read somewhere that transfers in the JTW are 25% more expensive compared to summer transfers perhaps the players Chris wanted have been priced out of range also we did spend a lot in the Summer for us at least.

I would say 25% is the very minimum. 50-100% seems more likely to me tbh

I don't think we've ever been in a position like this under McCabe. Every window under him we have been fighting for promotion or against relegation. In those circumstances, when everyone else around you is strengthening, there is a good reason to bring players in.

I also think the fact there is no chance of a short term loan means the situation is different this season. People say that last year we improved by signing Madine, Dowell and Hogan but none of them here now and none are doing anything anywhere else. They would have been terrible permanent signings but were good short term loans. We can't make those sort of loans this season.
