Wilder certainly didn't deal with it , either during the injury itself or replacing him when he finally accepted JoC was fuckedFirst and foremost - gutted for JOC. Consumate professional and has been a joy to watch in the red & white.
Secondary, replacing someone of JOCs quality shall be incredibly tough within our financial boundaries. It's a challenge SJ probably didn't want.
Bert remembers hearing that crack as well. Not nice.I remember hearing his leg break. Everyone in the ground heard the crack - horrible.
In fairness to Webster, by the time he'd properly recovered we had jumped up two divisions, so it was always going to be hard for him to get back in the team then. He was a top character though, and very important in getting us going in that Bassett style!
Feck me don't mention John Ebbrell , still gives me a £million shiversRemember it being the same with John Ebbrell, Dane Whitehouse and Chris Morgan. Much anticipated returns that never materialised.
Same here. We were stood on the terrace in front of the main standBert remembers hearing that crack as well. Not nice.
He did well at Charlton and West Ham paid £500,000 for him which was a decent fee in the early 90s. Sure he then got another serious injury not long after going to WH and maybe retired?I remember hearing his leg break. Everyone in the ground heard the crack - horrible.

He was a very important member of the squad, wasn't he in the dressing room at Leicester even though he wasn't playing at all?He did well at Charlton and West Ham paid £500,000 for him which was a decent fee in the early 90s. Played a big part in the away win at Oldham. He was a very important member of the squad, wasn't he in the dressing room at Leicester even though he wasn't playing at all?
Didn’t he score a flying header against Cardiff in THAT 5-1 win ? And possibly against Everton in that FA Cup 2-1 win ?think it was 66 when gil broke his leg he was like lightning down the left wing before the break john harris played him more centrally in his later years with us often up top with billy dearden and despite being small was fantastic in the air and scored some great headed goals for us
Fairly sure I heard Neill Collins (?) cheekbone going in a home game against Scunthorpe. Same game in which Shaun Miller ruptured his ACL.Bert remembers hearing that crack as well. Not nice.
God, I'd forgotten that, didn't he play up front with Deano that game or am I losing it? Was that his only game?Played a big part in the away win at Oldham.
Just looked and he got injured in pre season training for West Ham so never played a game for them, edit he managed a few games two years later.

Simon Webster was a rising star on the cusp of a promising Premier League career when injury brought his life crashing down around him.www.nuffieldhealth.com
Cardiff was a volley. Brum was the diving header. Everton was the equaliser heading in a Woody left footed crossDidn’t he score a flying header against Cardiff in THAT 5-1 win ? And possibly against Everton in that FA Cup 2-1 win ?
He was up front that game but sure he played other games that season in midfield or defence.God, I'd forgotten that, didn't he play up front with Deano that game or am I losing it? Was that his only game?
Just bumped into him in Wilmslow with the missus , obvs back crutches .. wished him well in his recovery .. he didn’t want to talk about it too much
Fingers crossedBack on crutches? So he's had another op?
Hopefully this one is the one that sorts it for him.
2 ops and 20 months out, he's probably done unfortunately; at least at this levelTo date we haven’t replaced him, but it’s going to happen this summer.
If it’s all gone well and he’s out for only another 6 months then he has the remainder of the season to get back to to speed. Plus pre season and be back fighting for a spot with 1 year left on his contract.. if it’s 12 or longer then he has issues.
one thing that could happen and really hope it doesn’t, is he comes back does well let’s his contract expire and moves on that would be the ultimate piss take.. worse than Kenny
There it is.Another op pencilled in. Then we’ll see what the state of play is. No ones given up just yet but it looks bleak.

Woomp?There it is.
I’m not in the mood to celebrate.Woomp?
So you're saying he's done?I’m not in the mood to celebrate.![]()

So so sad… it’s even worse that it happened in a training game.
In hindsight these full on ’old school’ training games.., shin pad Thursday I believe they nicknamed them, that the previous regime had in place might have sounded macho and tough but not the wisest thing to have indulged in.
