I don’t know why you’re struggling with the concept of “the Blades way”.
I’m 38 and have watched the Blades for 32 years (ish). In that time we’ve done a lot of stupid things as a club, you’re a lot older so you must have also noticed things don’t always go swimmingly. We know that they happen to other clubs as well, but our nickname is ‘The Blades’ hence why it’s used to describe these occurrences.
In my Blades watching lifetime amongst other things we’ve:
- Had Reg Brearley in charge
- Got relegated in ridiculous fashion in the early 1990s
- Missed out in numerous play off campaigns
- Sold a lot of our best players at crazy times (Deane/Fjortoft etc.)
- Had Mike McDonald in charge
- Taken ages over building John Street
- Nearly got taken over by a transsexual
- Missed out by the odd goal in a few cup semis
- Had Warnock and gone up, then gone down in spectacular fashion and sacked Warnock
- Gone pretty quickly to League 1
- Got a great manager in Wilder eventually, done well, then ended up with him as a broken man and having a shocking season breaking some records
- Found a Saudi Prince with no money
- Nearly sold the club to FBI’s most wanted
- Found some Nigerian bloke with no money
- Gone into an embargo
These are examples of why people talk about ‘the Blades way’ and there are a lot more I’ve not noted above.
Acknowledging that we’ve made some stupid mistakes isn’t tantamount to not enjoying our successes. It’s just we expect things to go wrong based on history.
It’s nothing to do with the pigs and what they’ve done in the same timescale.
