In a way, the sooner we're mathematically unable to go up, the better. In reality, it was over 3 or 4 weeks ago (although probably much earlier) - when we started chucking points away. You might get away with that in a relegation struggle but not among the big boys.
Today, Wolves, Brentford, Middlesbrough and Villa showed what you need to do to get the results that matter. Millwall have just finished a 17-match unbeaten run. Fulham are unbeaten in 20 games. That's promotion form (and it's uncertain if Millwall will get in the play-offs). Since September 12, our longest winning sequence? Two games, and we've only achieved that twice.
Our poor form since the Coutts injury on November 17, (when we were in second place) has meant we've won 30 points in 27 games. That's relegation form. How the fuck we've still been (mathematically) in with a chance of the play-offs is a miracle, but not any more.
