As Tony Mowbray has pointed out there are loads of out of contract players who can be signed at any time such as the Brighton lad Danny Holla. We don't have a clue what's going on behind the scenes. For all we know deals may have already been agreed.

Coventry City remind me of us in the 80's. They have big overheads and I saw a quote that they need 15K average gates to break even.

Their fans have already been told they need to sell their best players to survive. They tried to make Fleck their best paid player but according to their manager couldn't compete with the finances at Sheff Utd.

Their fans are totally fed up and feel like packing in as the only players they can bring in are free transfers on modest salaries. It made me chuckle when a Cov fan referred to us as the Man City of League 1, just trying to buy promotion.

Its a strange attitude from them towards us. We've just completely overhauled our squad to cut costs, we've even had to pay players off to allow us to bring players in, then we've sold our two youngest and 'brightest' stars. We may have more cash than Coventry, but thats partly because we have owners that (now, finally) insist on cutting our cloth according to the division we're in

We've paid fees for players and we're probably paying decent wages for the division, but we're no longer trying to build a squad for the Championship (and PL) but one to get out of this division.
