Keeping Brooks came before anything else today, so that's a big positive for me.

Selling him, especially for a shit fee, would've been the only thing I would've counted as disastrous.

We get to see him for at least 5 months now. What a refreshing change.

And he can play up front. And if there are no signings he'll get plenty of opportunities.

Unless something changes soon.

We went into the final month of the transfer window wanting 1 striker, 1 AM, 1 CM and 1 Defender.

We've signed 2 defenders and lost 2 attacking players to suspicion and injury. We haven't address the glaring holes in the side for me. And to be honest there has to be some blame to go around here - either in identifying targets or conducting negotiations

Given that we tried to get Cole and quina in today only for the respective clubs to back out on the deals how are united to be blamed for that, we've got a squad which is good enough to stay up, not to mention we haven't seen much of Nathan Thomas yet, with lavery injured he'll probably make the bench against Sunderland

We've had three months to do the deals tho... why are we pissing about leaving 24 hours to get everything done

I guess I will still be checking my mobile at 5am, thinking I'll give it another half hour :)

I always go to bed with the hope that 'a late signing' will be announced in the morning, always been disappointed so far

I would say this window has been a 5/10. Which is a shame because i believe a 7/10 would have given us a great chance of achieving a top half finish.

We haven't lost any first teamers or the messiah.

Brought in a decent back up keeper.
Good options at the back.
Maybe 1 cm short from perfect but we are okay in midfield.

The main disappointment is the lack of a striker coming in. Evans, lavery and brooks are still unknown quantities at this level and may perform well partnering sharp.

I'm sure Tuffty wanted to get a few more in ,
We could always have been shafted by paying £10 million for a striker ,
Because you could be sure some on ere would have complained about paying over the odds .
Clubs don't have to sell there players to us , we can only offer what we think is good value for us
( sufc ) ,
Don't get me wrong I would have loved to have got a big , fast fucker up front to partner Billy .
I trust our manager , to manager our club , and let's be fair he's not done a bad job so far .
We used to have to sell players before bringing someone in ,
Now it's the pigs who are fucked with a bloated squad , and nobody willing to shell out on their
never beens .
We could have done better for sure ,
But I for 1 ain't going to slag the club after last season , or are we not building something special .

I would say it's a 6/10 signing. But perhaps Wilder can get the best out of him. I will go out on a limb and say he'll be our 2nd top goalscorer after Sharp come the end of the season...

He'll only need a dozen at the absolute most.

Mmmm A journeyman and a development player in, I suppose you can say we have brought more bodies in but you can't say the first team has been strengthened.
My verdict ............ We tried for a few but ........................ as ever with Sheffield United :(:(:(

still been good window for us. we've kept brooks which was a huge thing & glad we got 2 defensive reinforcements this last week as we were short on centre backs. its funny as i was saying about 10 past 11 how then wouldve preferred to bring 1 or 2 strikers as cover for billy sharp but thats football. then that broke. so im happy that weve got the striker i wanted & we needed. when we were in league 1 he was Brentford. he always stood out as very good player always a handful bit like a lower league drogba but worries me that hes 34

We could certainly do with someone who is a handful upfront in all fairness. And he has been a decent player in his day and a different threat to what we currently have.

Obviously he's 34 but hope here some life in the old dog yet.
