Sheffield Wednesday could play a key role in our season when they face Leeds and Norwich back to back. If "ambitions" of finishing in the top 6 are for them, these are 2 of the 9 games they need to win to stand any chance..

This means Norwich and Leeds would have to drop points for Wednesday to stand any realistic chance of play offs imo.

Of course, its in our own hands and its simple... win the next 9 games and we are a Premier League club, but is that realistic?

Could Sheffield Wednesday actually give us a helping hand and will you be rooting for em against Norwich and Leeds if we're still in the top 2 hunt?

I won't be wanting Wednesday to win against Norwich and Leeds, but I will be wanting Norwich and Leeds to lose against Wednesday. Two entirely different things. :D

I mentioned them ‘throwing’ the games against those two. But now they’ve got something to cling to (they won’t make the play-offs) it gives those fixtures added importance.

I never want the Wednesday bastards to win a game, but I’ll keep a keen eye on those 2 fixtures.

Not so. As it stands us, Norwich and Leeds have 'gone' and it'll be '2 from 3' who gets autos (the one who misses out is guaranteed a PO spot, leaving three more play-off spots up in the air). As regards the play-offs, the way the 'chasing pack' are fucking up, Wednesday beating Leeds and/or Norwich is certainly not vital for them.:(

Love United about a gazillion more times than I hate Wednesday. So if that means they win to benefit the team I support. Then yes I want them to beat Leeds and the sloth from goonies lookalikes.

I’d be happy for them to win both and make the play offs, so long as they help us go up in the process.

I can’t think of anything more stressful than a play off matchup though, however unlikely that is.

I'd be very happy for the Pigs to make the playoffs. Two conditions:

1. They assist us in gaining automatic, if not the title.

2. They make it through to the final and lose either catastrophically, by several goals, by a hilarious own goal, or on penalties. Either way, summat to make their fans rooer until they are spewing. This, after several weeks of half of Sheffield celebrating our triumphant success and the other half in excited anticipation of the Pigs 'pulling it off' and being certs to romp the playoffs, possibly beating Leeds convincingly on the way just to maximise their confidence. Summat which looks a bit like that year when they thought they were quids in for two lots of domestic silverware and got fucking nowt, the piggy cunts.

That.

Of the 12 games Bruce has been in, charge , the only teams they have had to play above 14th place have been us and Derby. I would think that with games against Villa,Forest Leeds Norwich Bristol and Preston to come that it's unlikely that they would get enough points to get to the 6th place needed which brings me to think that a win v Leeds would be good for us but not help them too much. Anyway....fuck em!

I will never "root" for Sheffield Wednesday. I may want the other team to lose, but I never want them to win. I know that doesn't make perfect sense, but it makes football sense.

Look, I don't think Wednesday are going to get near the top 6. Points wise they aren't far off, but Bristol City and Middlesbrough, for example, have played less games than them, and teams aren't just going to sit back and let Wednesday catch them up. It's a good effort they've put together since Stevie the Bruce has come in - just shows you what a difference it makes having a normal manager instead of a clueless and spiteful Dutch dwarf - but their little run is going to end sometime soon. And when it does, it will be like watching the froth on a pan of boiling milk quickly go back down to a simmer when you turn the gas off. And that will be that. Then there will be cries of..."just wait until next season, we are going to piss the league" from an S6 direction.

Can we win 9 games in a row? Yes - we can. We've done that before.

Will we win 9 games in a row? I doubt it. But, I think what may be achievable is to go unbeaten in the next 9 games.

I posted something similar on here a few weeks ago. I heard a fan talking about "going unbeaten till the end of the season" on FH the other night. I think the idea may be catching on? Although I also said I fancied us to finish as Champions as well - and I've not heard many Blades agreeing with me on that one yet! Too soon perhaps? ;)

If they can get through that run of games, they deserve it
