Pleased that it's these instead of them although both are tough games, recent results have shown that if we play our best,we are clearly the best of the rest after the autos
Sunderland really struggled last night after a decent start, their front 2 were hardly in the game for long periods,Cov seemed to tire later on and Sunderland manage to grab the result through a basic defensive lapse, but both teams ran about fastly with very little end product,so Sunderland are basically through due to 2 gift goals after being massively out of form for weeks.
Coventry we already beat recently although a Wembley pressure game is a complete different kettle of fish.
Tactics will be interesting,I think Wilder will be wary of the pace of their front 2 so will probably sit back and play on the break ourselves.Note that 2 Cov goals came from crosses from attacks down Sunderland left side,so maybe worth probing there.

What is the kick-off time? That's what thousands of Blades fans and I want to know.
Can't plan owt reght until that is confirmed.

The match will finish 15 before the final train leaves back to Sheffield, if indeed it runs at all.

Nothing to fear....we show up, we'll piss this. We have to show up.
Steady on.
We had to show up many times before too
It's a whole different scenario at Wembley and they have some very good players, as do we. It's on who really fires on the day
Their support has been incredible all season too

It's mouthwatering but let's not get overconfident?

Its a game that we should have enough quality to win as long as the team as a whole turns up.
We seem to have struck the right balance for the team at just the right time and the decision to go 2 up front IMHO has been one of the main reasons for this.

We have arguably a keeper who is in the top 2 in the division.

the back 4 is solid. I think Choudhury has found his best position at RB and gives the aura of being calm and composed with good positional sense whilst not being too adventurous in attack.

Anel and JLT have been comfortable as the 2 CB players and Burrows looks to have found form again after a few weeks looking a bit under par.
Vini Souza seems to have got back to match fitness after his injury layoff, having looked off the pace when he first came back and Peck continues to impress with each game. The only thing letting him down has been his accuracy in shooting which does look to be improving (winning goal at Wembley would be nice). Having T Davies as an option is great also as, when fit (such a shame that he has been dogged by injuries), he is one of the best midfielders on our books.

Hamer, coming in off the left is has been our main threat all season and he is a wonderful player to have. The big pitch at Wembley will allow him space to impact the game hopefully.
the 2 up top has got to be Moore and Campbell as it gives us a focal point to play up to in Moore to hold the ball up and play in others and Campbell to run the channels and find pockets of space whilst also being able to play off knock downs and layoffs from Moore. Cannon to replace either during the game as appears fit.

The only position that we appear to be struggling with for someone to nail the position down as their own is out on the right.
We have plenty of options but I would go for O'Hare, who looks to have benefitted from being taken out of the starting line up. No one can fault his work rate but, as I have said in previous posts, his end product and decision making had been lacking. His recent appearances have been very effective to the team and he has chipped in with some important goals too. He doesn't allow the opposition time on the ball and has linked up play well. Brewster is a good alternative and has shown in patches that playing in a less advanced position may be better for him and the team than as a central striker. He has good vision and has played some great passes to create chances for others. Still needs to work on his decision making at times and spend some more time with Lester on his shooting but the signs are promising.
Rak Sakyi has been the least effective of all the options for a little while but again, with the big/wide pitch, could be another option to turn their defence and cause problems.

With regard to Sunderland, they have been off the pace for some time but it would be foolish to write them off. they also will likely adopt a style that could cause us serious problems if they continue to sit back and contain whilst looking to hit us on the counter as their forward line is full of pace and much faster than our back line. Probably the worst thing that could happen on the day would be to go a goal down to them as that would mean that we have to chase the game and leave us vulnerable to such counters.

Hopefully this will be the year that we break the cycle of playoff woes and get a win at Wembley.

By the way, I'm still working on getting to the final. Discussions with the wife have stalled but I'm trying to justify spending $3-4000 on a weekend trip to London and offering a sweetener of a week on Bali for her. On a positive note, I've found out recently that our sofa is really comfortable 🤣🤣

In the history of the EFL Championship play-offs (since their inception in 1987), the third and fourth-placed teams have faced each other in the final on two occasions:
  1. 2006 Final: Third-placed Watford defeated fourth-placed Leeds United 3–0.
  2. 2014 Final: Fourth-placed Queens Park Rangers beat third-placed Derby County 1–0.
Therefore, in these matchups, the third-placed team secured promotion once.

Overall, third-placed teams have reached the final 18 times and won promotion on 10 occasions.

Pretty sure Leeds finished 5th in 2006?

I'd also add there were only 3 points between Leeds and Watford and 5 points between Derby and QPR.
We finished FOURTEEN points ahead of Sunderland (actually 16). We have to be confident in ourselves to get the job done.

Rak Sakyi has been our most effective wide ( winger or whatever ) on the right hes the most postive he runs at people an out and out winger with a football brain so, attacking wise, our best option in that wide right role -defensively questions but I have noticed he has done a lot more tracking back recently and has been a good outlet for our right back - he tormented Bristol to death on Monday when he came on they were shyte scared of him ( more so his link play with Ohare )

Have I gone into a parallel Universe? Sunderland have already won at Wembley judging by their players and crowd. Well done Chris for still playing it low key, knows there’s still a big job to do.

I was there last night, and the celebrations probably do seem OTT just for beating a team who finished below us and making it to the final.

I don’t think the celebrations were for that though. We have a horrid record against Coventry, with a weird forced rivalry that stems back years but should’ve long been forgotten. It was a very nervy encounter for us with everyone expecting us to lose once they went ahead, so it was an outpouring of emotion for finally getting past Coventry. We literally always fuck it up against them, except in these 2 games.

Had we won comfortably last night, the celebrations wouldn’t have been as extreme. Just that sudden release of emotion.

To be honest I forgot about your rivalry with Cov. Looking back to last night, I can understand your celebrations, last minute winners do that to you! Looking forward to the Final, safe travels to all Sunderland fans going down there a week on Saturday.

I see alot of other PL "fans" like Spurs, Chelsea etc are wanting Sunderland up as were boring and embarrassing for the league.

Hardly surprising, some of those PL "fans" you see on Twitter, YouTube etc are always very opinionated on who belongs in the PL.

They want Sunderland up because some of them are convinced that they can stay up next season because they're a big club, and because they've got Bellingham.

Same reason why some of them wanted Coventry up because of Lampard.

Some of them even go on about how Pigs should be in the PL, even though they probably aren't old enough to remember them in the PL, they just pick Pigs because other people (who are actually old enough to remember 90's Pigs) pick them.

They say the same rubbish about the likes of Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton among others, club's too small so they don't belong in the PL nonsense.

A lot of them are just plastic glory supporters anyway, most of the genuine fans don't have those voices on social media and are usually decent people.

Some of the PL content creators are just muppets who will say anything (controversial or not) just to get reactions, seen some of them claiming you can't be a proper football fan unless you support a PL team.

Look at Liverpool with Trent, I bet quite a few of their fans who aren't on social media, are probably okay with him leaving for the biggest club in the world (especially considering everything he's done for them), compared to most of the fans you see online calling him "Judas" and booing him etc.

Not denying that he has his moments but after an initial, positive start, he became less effective and then had a period out injured and when he came back, appeared to me to have less influence on games than before. He also developed the habit of running down blind alleys or losing possession of the ball. He had a good spell against Bristol but that maybe more to do with the fact that they knew they were well beaten and were totally overpowered by our attacking play as a whole. He's a good player but for me, has been too inconsistent.
