Is Wilder still a legend in your eyes?

If he hadn't come back twice I would have considered him a legend. That has diminished now. He had a good few seasons but should never have been brought back.

It's more the wording of the voting option and then picking it. It's just petty and needless. Its like making a point every time of saying Brian Deane is ONLY a legend up to 1994. Unless you dislike Brian Deane I dont think anyone would ever do that.
He moved to Leeds in summer 1993

Yes 100%.

Before he came in we had finished 11th in league 1. Won the league with 100 points then went up again to prem playing unbelievable football. Finished 9th in the prem and it would have been higher but for covid and the villa camera debarcle.

V unlucky last season in the playoff final. Only game all season with var which prevented us going up. Sunderland were dead and buried.

If we hadn’t sacked him after last season I reckon we would have signed mcburnie and not some of the dross we ended up with and would have been right up there again. We will never know though.

If we struggle next season he should go and go with his held high in my view.
I’ve loved the wilder years.

I was going to start a new thread on Wilder but given there's this thread already there seems little point and a little look at me etc.

Just give Wilder a chance!

Let's remember that this season was a total car crash from the off and had we made the wrong appointment after sacking Selles we could well have been in a relegated scrap. Just look at Spurs as an example of bad decisions to z team not expected to be down there.

It's half of his team and I suspect only Mee and Tanganga would have been likely Wilder choices from the list that came in near or on deadline day.

He's our best manager post Dave Bassett, 92 points last season which this season would have guaranteed promotion.

I'm getting a little tired of the constant criticism on here towards Wilder and the team, especially if we go one down and the comments come out like sack Wilder now, this team are a bunch of c@nts, this time next season we'll be confirmed going down to league One.

Really?! Have a look at his record and think again. You can hold me to this. Next season we'll be play offs minimum. And we were not tactically outclassed by Sunderland neither btw. You can blame Kieffer Moore, the bad luck of Anel off Injured anf off the pitch and VAR if you're looking for the most likely reasons for why we lost.

Hopefully we get a day off the Wilder bashing if we hold onto this result.

Mate, we'll never get a day off the Wilder bashing. We could win the League Cup, FA Cup, become Premier League and European Champions, and win the Club World Cup for good measure, under Wilder, and half the forum would still spend their days like this:

Goes down as a legend in my eyes. I was too young really to remember the Bassett era so Wilder’s first spell is hands down the greatest period for me as a Blades fan by some margin, so he gets legend status for that in my eyes.

My only hope is that he is essentially in a similar position now to what he was when he took over in that first spell. Repeating that success will take some doing and how it goes from here is anyone’s guess. I suspect it’ll all be very average, which, despite the points total last year, is exactly how I saw the football that season.
