Dietmar Hamman talking about Spurs after the Chelsea game last night:

"Spurs were out-played, out-thought and out muscled. If you have no conviction in your play, don't be surprised if you don't get any points. It is a very worrying time for Spurs fans."

It strikes me that this could describe the Blades perfectly right now. Purely on the ability in the squad we should be beating most teams in this division at a canter, but it doesn't feel like the players have the conviction to go out and boss games. Whether this comes from the players themselves, or from the manager is unclear, but I certainly don't feel like the players go out on the pitch expecting to dominate teams and win games.

Our problem is simple. Coady, Brayford and Maguire have been replaced by Alcock, Basham and Mcgahey. I am not knocking the latter unduly, 2 are solid pros who have done a solid job, the other is raw with great potential, but the 3 we have lost were brilliant players at this level and we are missing them.

Coupled with Flynn, Scougall and Baxter all failing to hit the heights of last season's resurgence, I am not surprised by our predicament.

We need one hell of a JTW in my opinion, or play offs at the very best for me.

The one positive is that we are at our lowest ebb of the season, and are still 5th. The league is weaker this season than last. I just hope the board, for once, gives us a decent transfer window.

I think most of us were aware we'd be weaker this season after losing 3 excellent players. Unfortunately the media and bookies hyped us up unaware of what an influence we'd lost. Then some fans started to believe the hype.

We are a team of average-ish players with no superstars, a few are better than average but they need better players around them to bring them along and we don't have that. We need to spend in JTW

Theres time where efoorts not enough, the mental side of the game is the difference thesedays , thats why Mourinho is such a genius . He gets players working like dogs , but instills the most neccesary ingredient, belief. Thats what we are short of , I dont think we are a million miles away , but without the players having that belief in themselves and each other we are falling that bit short. Its like a boiler that needs a new pilot light , the boilers fine when it gets going , just the flame keeps blowing out. If we can sort out the ignition well warm every one up.
May need a few new parts , then Clough can light us up .

I have not seen one game where we have been outplayed this season. Quite naive a lot of times which has lead to the losses but we should have won most games. I think our leader on the pitch is not having enough influence during a lot of situations and on some players. He's happy in his own zone.

The upcoming game against Southampton will show just how much poor we are this season!
Or wil thr under performing players stand up and show what they really are capable of?

Yes we need to spend and improve but it's not hype when thinking we should be beating Rochdale, Peterborough, Fleetwood etc SUFC should be.

Preston, Barnsley and Bristol should be the teams we are fighting for the top two. The rest are crap.

we have

we aint played fleetwood , but we have beaten rochdale and peterboro , only saying

But Mouth of the Tyne, its typical of 3rd. division players, (generally as gifted as players a league or two above but where they are through laziness). To raise their game against teams from higher leagues when the play them in the cup.

Lets put it this way. If we drift into this January Transfer Window with no real declared targets, then we will be effectively served with the same old motionless inertia we have seen for years from this board. It has happened before, and it will happen again. When was the last time we saw a player holding up a Blades shirt in BDTBL and you actually thought, 'Fucking Hell! That is a quality signing. it looks like we mean business'?

I hear this 'money will be made available' shit, and it goes into the folder marked 'Empty Statements' along with the 'Game Changing Investments' and 'At the Earliest Opportunity', in the filing cabinet with the shit statements skilled, oily spiv-like politicians make to shut the swinish multiude up. Unless that money can be turned into people like Kenwyne Jones (for example) who will destroy opposition defences at this level and get at least 15 goals in the remainder of the season to enable us to win matches and a few others who will control and dominate from the back and the midfield, then I'd treat anything said by the board as another barrowload of bullshit. We are doing rubbish (despite being fifth - that is how shit this division is) and the fans are starting to boo, yet again. Lets feed them some old crap pre-Christmas (just in case we slip out of the playoffs) being as this year has in effect been as bruising as last year, what with Evans et al and hope the turnstiles keep rotating and the club shop keeps ringing its tills.

Cynical fuckers.

There are 20 clubs who we should be thinking about beating not thinking we've got a point when we kick off, let's try and keep it.

That's the problem at the club.

i dont think Clough wants to do anything but win , hes forever stating he wants wave upon wave of attacks , but once players cross the white lines its up top them to carry out what theyve been practising, and its this mental block thats costing us.
Is it Cloughs fault , or arent the players performing their jobs as required

"we've got a point when we kick off, let's try and keep it."

The above is a statement made by Nigel Clough in a RS interview this week [think it was Monday].

well hes saying thats the minimum requirement ait he , you start with one, make sure thats the least we talke out of it , not lets hang on , that would be fecking mental
you cant honestly believe hes saying we want 46 points this season

Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is fucking mental.

I would have to seriously question the ability statement. I am not seeing this ability at all. We are a mediocre side with mediocre journeyman footballers. Pay peanuts get monkeys.

Yes im starting to accept that our signings just are not upto the job of getting us out of this league.

I would say James Beattie?
We then decided to shit ourselves & say he had man flu.
Hello is that Mr Pulis? Yes its KMC here, How much for Beattie was it?

The fact that, having played them all, we've failed to beat any of the other top 6 teams and have lost to the top 3 is worrying.

i have to ask the question Mcgahey "is the raw talent with potential" but NC plays him regardless,my question is ? why does he not bring che adams on ? after all he comes with a prolific reputation

I would agree with that. Unfortunately the excitement of signing Beattie was tempered by the fact McCabe had made about the worst possible managerial appointment possible.

And yet relative to the other teams in this division we are not paying peanuts are we? I would be extremely surprised if our wage bill was not one of the highest (quite possibly the highest) in the division, which means that by your logic most other sides must have more 'monkeys' than we've got. Therefore we should still be 'walking' the league.

Deep down, isn't there a problem of conflict of interest for footballers in all but the best clubs?

If you win promotion you are very likely to lose your job.

So if you enjoy living and playing where you do, why bother too much?

The manager sets the tone on this with almost every statement.
The mythical progress rather than achievement!.

Plus the same affliction will continue in the boardroom whilst ever so many fans continue to throw money at them.
