Is there anyone who thinks we shouldn't make the change yet?

There needs to be some sign of improvement.

There needs to be some sign that Selles is willing to adapt.

Sadly though, I think we appointed a philosophy manager who would take his way of playing to the grave. Doesn't matter if it's not working. Doesn't matter if he doesn't have the players for it. He will keep playing this brainless football because 'playing the right way' and 'sticking to your principles' is more important to him than winning football matches.

Ordinarily I’d completely agree.

However, the response of most of the players when Selles went to the fans was telling.

He’s lost the dressing room already, that only goes one way
The only thing I'd ask is did he ever have the dressing room to lose them, seems to me as an outsider looking in that they've never taken to him (for whatever reasons)?

Fair point, but then that’s on them. They’re are very highly paid professionals. I get that some of them liked Wilder. I liked some of my old bosses but when they left I still had a job to do.

Wilder isn’t the only option out there. And if it upsets the players then they can fuck off too because some of this is on them

That's a really good point.

I've had bosses I've really liked, and bosses I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire, but I've still done the job to the best of my ability.

Would agree with what you said, can't only be on the manager.

Agreed there, I think after Monday’s deadline is done and the squad is what it is with anyone in or out, some hard graft during the international break is needed to work on some partnerships and systems that fit the players we have in. Utilise players in positions where they should play and we will be fine. Can see Ings being a starter but it’s getting the ball to him in decent positions where the challenge is going to be
Based on absolutely nothing but blind optimism.
His tactics to-date are woeful.

How did the fight go against Bristol and Swansea?
I'm just talking about Boro, the last game, the slight improvement, and the comparison with last year.

Im the world's biggest Wilder fan, but its Burrows, Campbell, Peck... a few of his old stalwarts not covering us in glory.

Going into this game I thought it's a free hit against a good team and that he should have 10 games to decide his fate.

Now I think lose or draw against Charlton and he's gone.

Tonight has been embarrassing. Starting front three ineffective and back five littered with silly mistakes.

Fuck me. You'd give him another game?

What the holy mother of fuck have you seen that warrants another look?

Seriously, what have you seen?

In any business if someone is performing as badly as Ruben Selles and it is affecting the brand they are dispensed with forthwith. It makes no sense to continue with someone so clearly out of their depth especially if it affects the performance of other key personnel namely the players. I've come across and moved on many stubborn intransigent Managers who just can't change. After tonight where we witnessed team selection issues, formation obsession and players just not playing for the manager or the shirt a parting of ways is inevitable. There can be no plausible reason why his services should be retained beyond the week end.

The owners have gone down a route that has failed in a very short window. The better leaders recognise mistakes early and put them right. There is no shame in admitting where you have got it wrong. Delay and it will only get worse. I'm sure they wish to avoid a toxic atmosphere against Charlton.

There is still time to resurrect the season but only if key changes are made. Not least bringing a football man onto the Board to provide experienced advice. David Weir has left Brighton today as Technical Director. The owners should be looking to appoint someone of a similar ilk to avoid a repeat of the short term disaster of their own making.

All eyes will be now on the owners. It is now time to put your heads above the parapet and be seen to be taking effective action.

Ruben Selles and Sheffield United are clearly not a good fit. He may well be tactically intelligent but whether he is or he isn't his instructions are not getting through to the players. If they wanted to play for him we would have seen some sort of improvement by now, but there's nothing.

If the board think after five games he's worth another game then deary me, they're even more clueless than I thought they were.
