Is there anyone who thinks we shouldn't make the change yet?

Which is a bit like me saying if I was 40 years younger ,fit, with an athlete's body I could shag Scarlet Johanson and Margot Robbie.
You’re just making excuses now.

I’m a 55 year old tubby, arthritic, diabetic. Scarlett and Margot won’t leave me alone. Hannah Waddingham is coming round tonight and I’m spent already…

Yes as like the last 2 he picked stronger opponents rather than a pre-season tour of Yorkshire and Derbyshire. He had a competitive fixture with Fulham and Nice. It would have also helped if he had a settled squad that he was improving rather than being forced to reduce and wait weeks into the season to replace.

The Bristol City game could realistically gone either way at one point and if we had a settled defence, playing mental ball like that we could have won. The 3 other league fixtures, I wouldn’t say we were unlucky as you do make your own luck. However individual errors cost us the 1 goal in each of the games, although they could have come at any time, under Wilder and Hecky we seemed to have that bit of luck that went for us. The game I always think about is the Bash arriving away at Leeds, they hit the post, missed sitters all over the place but a flicked on hoof ball sat nicely for Bash to shin it in. Realistically on stats paper we didn’t deserve to win that but we rode our luck. With ‘Boro yesterday we had more possession, more passes and 8 shots but without a shot on target we aren’t going to win, not to single anyone out too much but if Mee is in that CB partnership Boro don’t score that goal yesterday and we probably frustratingly get a 0-0 draw out of that.
Scored 1 goal. Defence irrelevant.

Previous managers just lucky. Oh dear.

Do you want this inept prick or a lucky manager?

Perhaps good managers make their own luck?

Perhaps Selles lottery win, doesn't qualify him to be in charge of 92 points Blades.

Wank him off bro

Unless we have someone ready to take over straight away I think he gets the next few games. Getting rid now potentially leaves a vacuum with new players to bed in with no manager. Holding off for now gives a final chance to show he can turn it around whilst at the same time allowing the board some time to have a replacement lined up should he show no signs of doing so.

...which is where I come in of course or at least I would be if you'd answer your bloody doorbell!

I remember reading from one of the "fans view from" comment

“If you actually watch and follow Hull City and watched our last 10 games of the season you’ll understand why #hcafc fans are baffled Ruben Sellés is off to #sufc.
No identity, no clear patterns or structure, negative substitutions and we crawled over the line."

"He was very well backed and still had some horrendous losses in his time”
“Those saying Selles sacking was “harsh” and “unjust” after barely finishing 21st and staying up on gd are the same people who didn’t have to watch –
(L) – 0-1 Derby
(L) – 0-1 Swansea
(L) – 0-1 Watford
(L) – 0-1 Luton
(L) – 0-1 Cardiff
(L) – 1-2 Stoke

(L) – 1-2 QPR”

Stubborn, poor away from home, baffling substitutions"

Just a few examples, and from what I can see it certainly echos what is happening with us - change needs to happen!

I honestly think he's a fantastic academic - talks a very good talk. I have a company with 12 staff and in the past done many interviews - some people present very well and talk a very good talk. However, they're absolutely useless and managed to 'blag' their way in.

I feel Selles has done exactly the same. He must surely have a bit of imposter syndrome being at our club considering the size, history and expectation. It doesn't fit with what he's achieved at a practical level in terms of success and achievement.

Not looking at the league cup game as for me our priority should be on the league. The defence is massively relevant along with preseason he was playing Anel, Souza and Moore throughout preseason as did Wilder during last season. It was clear that those 3 would have started every league match when fit/not suspended.
There were countless games because the Championship is so competitive where we got lucky in several campaigns however you look at March-May under Wilder that is relegation form we were lucky that we did the damage to the league and got the points needed before then. We clearly deserved to win the tie over the 2 legs in the playoffs despite their hit off the bar and us scoring through a penalty and the red card. Bristol City were still a decent side when we played them last season. However Wilders negative football came about again in the playoff final thinking we could hold on to a 1-0 and it bit him in the arse.

I personally don’t think Selles was my first choice, Although first impressions he came across as a decent coach with fresh ideas. If we ever want to be an established 2020s/30s Premier League side we can’t have Wilder 2.0/3,0 at the helm, we need to adapt and move forwards as a club. The options weren’t great when we were looking at managers, Dyche is similar to what we had, probably Cooper would be my preferred option if appointing from day 1. But if Wilder was in charge and the board started pulling players from under his feet, I don’t think the results would have looked any different.

And as for your last comment if that’s what you and your brother get up to in your spare time, it’s each to your own but leave it off the forum there is enough nonsense being spouted. I don’t mind a sensible debate but prefer not a mass debate with you or your “bro”

If it was a case of all games being like the Bristol city game and we obviously having some threat I absolutely wouldn't be where I am now.

That attacking threat has completely gone which is even more worrying

Agreed there, I think after Monday’s deadline is done and the squad is what it is with anyone in or out, some hard graft during the international break is needed to work on some partnerships and systems that fit the players we have in. Utilise players in positions where they should play and we will be fine. Can see Ings being a starter but it’s getting the ball to him in decent positions where the challenge is going to be

Anyone saying we don’t make the change asap is effectively advocating for writing off the season after 4 league games.

A guy who can give structure can have this team race up the league. The current incumbent appears not to know where to start with the absolute basics.

Forgot about the Chong chance. If he nets that, and Campbell takes a millisecond less time to release his shot, we win 2-1. Of course they had numerous chances too, but on another day we get 3 points (albeit luckily). We had two clear chances that should have been goals.
you forgot about McCallum missing the best chance from one yard out.

They will give him until Charlton game I reckon. If we lose to Ipswich and Charlton he’s gone. That way he’s had the international break to sort it out with new signings.

In reality I think we should be getting a new manager now and they can work with new ideas with players over the break.

I want him gone but they’ll let him have til October. He might pick up a couple of wins but long term I think it’s so obvious he’s not the guy.
It’s likely he’s not the guy , but not yet certain - he will be given until the next Int Break imo

It's a tough one.. I want him gone but dont think its the right time 🤷‍♂️ Just signed a new load of players and its the international break now.

Maybe give him next 3 games needing 5 points minimum?

Is it possible that he's playing Hamer Peck COH in midfield because they are all in the shop window?

It depends whether he's prepared to compromise or not. If he's rigidly going to stick to a system and way of playing which clearly doesn't work there's no point giving him more games.
It's his system perhaps his only system so I must agree with you

Can we at least wait until we lose to a bottom half team before getting the knives out?

So that’s a no…’unless Mee is in’
Which he isn’t.

I admire the optimism of some of these posts, “if we beat Ipswich and if we beat Charlton”. We’ve shown no signs of being able to beat anyone yet having scored 1 goal in 4 league outings.
Why would anyone think this is suddenly going to change?
Because he is going nowhere !
He is working night and day to rectify the current issues.
He will get the players HE WANTS tomorrow and the squad will be what HE WANTS.
The first win will really set the season alight, and don't be surprised if it happens at Ipswich, who were damn lucky to scrape a point with a 16th minute injury time penalty.

Can we at least wait until we lose to a bottom half team before getting the knives out?
The three points they each got against our shower of a team is at least a fair part of why they are not bottom half teams.
