Is Knilly on holiday or summat?

None of the new players seem to have any understanding of how we like to play.
Looked a shambles last night to me. Where has that high press and slick passing game gone that served so well early season? It seems like a distant memory.
Come on Alan. Get 'em in and working some extra long hours on the training pitch. Not good enough lately.
Lots of praise when going well.
Time to apply yourself!
;-)
Hopefully.
This is an interesting take on things.

The “assistant manager” has usually been credited with being the real brains behind our operations when the manager hasn’t been doing well.

I think to a certain extent teams have worked out how to nullify us. Surely you have noticed (certainly at the Lane) teams press us high to stop us playing out of defence ? the result is the goalkeeper launches it and more often than not, we lose possession.

To say we've been found out is just daft. All teams know how the opposition play well in advance of the fixture. Doesn't matter if we are cautious or gung ho - they will have a plan to beat us no matter what the formation and tactics are.

We couldn't play the quick slick football at Hull because the pitch was that bad but that doesn't excuse the poor showing, too short passes, crap decision making and all round lack of effort. There could have been a falling out or it was simply just a very very bad day at the office.

We will see a positive reaction on Tuesday even if we lose. There is no way so many players can be so bad twice in back to back games unless they are purposely not trying and are fucking it up on purpose.

I won't be looking for a positive score on Tuesday - just a positive reaction!!!

UTMB!

The style of play is not the issue.

The quality of the players playing it is.

Everyone at the club is aware we need more quality. It’s how best to get it that is the debate.

So how come that, with exactly the same group of players available apart from Coutts that took the Championship by storm at the start of the season, we now look like a group of plodding strangers just going through the motions ?

Try to work it out .

The new additions don’t seem to be any better than the players we already have. We play Burton this Saturday and the reverse fixture is probably the last time we played this so called “slick football” we’ve become renowned for. Unfortunately that was Coutts last game.
I know all players are different, but surely it’s not beyond the witt of man for one of our midfielders to replicate that steady “hand on the tiller” that Paul Coutts gave us?

I personally thought Lunny was getting there and the team was looking a lot more like its old self, but by the time that happened Wilder had brought his new signings in and wanted to put them on the pitch to see how they looked. None has really measured up well and Lunny is no longer getting a run of games so he is "a bit off it" again.
I'd like to see Lunny back in the Coutts role consistently along with Fleck and Duffs to start games and bring the new lads (and Brooks) on after say 60 mins as and where they might contribute best.
I'd also like to see us get that high press back which we had early season where we gained posession high up the pitch and could catch the opposition out of position more. They are always able to get everybody back before we get upfield we are so slow moving the ball these days.

I was quite optimistic with our business in the JTW, but as you say it only succeeded pegging back Lundstrams development.
I think the reasons for CW odd outburst on TV might be frustration at the new signings not really having an immediate impact on improving the team.

The “high press” game is dependent on our wing backs getting up the pitch and crossing balls into the box or taking the ball into the box by getting round the opposing full back.
Unfortunately at this moment Stevens does neither and Baldock doesn’t do it often enough.
