mate no disrespect but Doyle has overseen one of the worst periods in our history. He is no good, but the poverty of our football has some of the fans thinking he is actually a good player...and it is not right, he is piss poor and one of the reasons why we have been so unsuccessful over his period at the club. No one can disagree with that, surely?

I didn't realise I mentioned Doyle, I was responding to whether we should form another club because we need to protest against the current ownership.

You didn't respond to that, you singled out one player, which is obviously subjective. If the problem you have with the club is Doyle then you've just killed your argument as Doyle has now been released...

in all honesty, in years past we have had poor teams but we have also had some hope that things would improve, I thought 1990-82 and 1986-88 was as bad as it gets, but the last few years takes it to a new level. also the football is getting worse....poor management for a number of years is the problem and it is getting worse, both board and team management. Other teams like AFC and FC United have sought to rid themselves of owners whose interest goes no further than their own nose. I am just floating the idea, not for everyone I would agree, but there has to be another option than simply doing nothing. After 30 odd years I have decided I am not going again next year.

I fully understand that, but as my miserable old man always points out, they sold his two hero's in Dean and Curry and tried to sell his third in Hagan. He always reminds me that disappointment is part and parcel of being a blade, it's part of the attraction in some ways.
That's the weird upbringing that's helped me cope with things over time anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the OP seems to forget we are already fan owned to a degree. I thought many fans are shareholders? Ever since the 70's I believe. Some on here attend the shareholder meetings etc.

Also I may not like McCabe much but he is a fan to.

Creating a new club is a poor idea and I would always prefer a fan takeover of sufc.

They have had several promotions already, and have just built there own ground. They will be in the conference north next year, just three leagues below us. They are a complete cooperative, 1 membership = 1 vote. It is not about challenging Man Utd, it is about taking back the club for the supporters and enjoying football once more.

So promotion = enjoyment. In that case lets just let the club freefall to the bottom layer of football (Youngs Fresh Fish League 11 or some such) and then we can feel good about things by getting to be the biggest fish.
