Is it time to change the manager?

Our new striker is not yet match fit this being the reason for him being on the bench.Un less of course you think he should have been on the whole 90 mins and risk him getting injured and laid up for the next 6 months.
So why is he not match fit?

It’s not confrontational to ask difficult questions....To be successful at Elite Sport the players/coaches must challenge every decision taken and be frighteningly honest. The questions raised internally will be far harder and far more reaching, not to divide, but to pull together to find a clear road map away from the challenges within. We are lucky in that we have a group who are willing to do this. In the end they may not quite be good enough but they won’t stop trying to find a way. If we can find two halves of football as good as the first today we won’t be far away as eventually the strikers will put away the chances. If the chances stop then time to worry but a long way still to go!

I do not shy away from the fact that the question has arisen in my thoughts, I’m not a blind faith type. I’m hoping (especially after last season) we are going to go onto better things than feeding off scraps. What’s more I think the new owner has shown the ambition and funding (lots of it) and wants us to reach our potential not accept little ol Sheffield United should accept relegation cause under Wilder we’ll bounce straight back.
I’ve not attempted to get clicks (couldn’t give a ****) it’s a genuine question, I’ve not hurled abuse back at abuse given it’s not my style and as Grey Blade points out I couldn’t give a jot about keyboard warriors although I’m a bit disappointed in some comments by some I consider to be my “virtual friends”. But that’s social media I suppose.

Ive not said youve abused anyone at all. I hate the thread, and the premise of it (and to be honest what that makes us as an actual fanbase), but its your right to ask it.

That being said, blatantly taking a POV and then going "oh no, not me guv" doesnt add to a debate, it just antagonises people further. Just like it does in day to day life (im sure you wouldnt suffer fools that did it).

Our owner might be ambitious. Fair enough. But we hit the premier league with a decent championship squad. Teams enter the premier league with a better squad than ours was every single year, and spend more than us, and go back down. But yes weve spent, but we are way behind still because it takes constant funding and tbh better personnel than we started with, to be the success you want to be. Its clear as day to me that the man who picked us up off the bottom of league one, led us to the premier league and then got 9th in our first season, when none of us would have been shocked to have gone back down, deserves a bit more respect and trust than questions like this tbh, 5 games into a new season.

He looks down and needs a lift. His comments earlier were surprising going on about how hard the EPL is and realing off Arsenal players names as if in awe. Come on Chris these are the sames players we took on and did well against last year, chin up and fire them lads up for the next game, we don't feel sorry for ourselves ever.

My short answer is no - wouldn't even consider it.

My longer answer is - I expected people to be asking this question because that's the society we now live in. Things aren't going my way so something must change. Easiest thing to change in football is to change the manager. Hardest thing to do is hold your nerve, work hard at what you do well and accept responsibility to make improvements.

What I'd love to know is how does anyone think this would help? It would simply bring instability.

Finally, I'd love to know what the OP would do once CW was sacked? Bring is a tried and tested PL manager?

Howe?
Pulis?
Allardyce?

They're all available
I agree to a point. And I absolutely don’t want anyone else in charge. The frustrating thing is, Wilder is making errors, and he needs to own up to it rather than bleating on about VAR, decisions and the price of other teams. We haven’t addressed lack of creativity this window despite it being obvious, the Freeman situation is bizarre, we spent 1/3 of our budget on back-up wingbacks that haven’t featured, we keep persisting with defensive midfield shapes and strike partners we know don’t work, some players misplace one pass and they’re out on their arse, yet others are hilariously out of form, or sticking 2 fingers up to contract offers and are playing 90 minutes.

We plummeted down the leagues 13 years ago, and toiled until Wilder rallied us, but make no mistake, it’s fucking hard to get into and stay in this division. If we blow it, it might take years to get back.
Get back to basics, attack teams, get the shackles off, be consistent in player selection based on merit, drop favourites if needed, play attack minded players and formations, let opposition worry about us. That’s how we blew through 2 divisions, where’s that team gone? Leeds are doing exactly what we should be. And we have better defenders.

How much loyalty do we think PA has to CWAK?

That is the only question.

Good question. PA has certainly backed him with money so Wilder needs to get results, that's how I think PA looks at it. He's a businessman first but i'm sure he will allow Chris time to turn it around. How much time only he knows but if this carries for another month or two don't be surprised if PA changes things.

Im not so sure.
I remember PA saying that even if we were to be relegated that CW would have his backing. Maybe the stark reality could be different if there was a real prospect of this happening though. Or even CW tending his resignation.

I am worried that CW seems to have lost his fight abit this season. The same as the team really.

Wilder does look very fed up at the moment, but I expect (or at least hope) that is simply down to results and shit luck with injuries. I also suspect that VAR and refereeing decisions have knocked a lot of his enthusiasm.

The questions got to be asked so I’ll grasp the nettle.

Backed by the board, no complaints there
£45 on 2 strikers
Squad lacks athleticism
Squad lacks creative / technical players
Refuses to explore foreign market
Still tries to polish turds
Seems to lack Plan B other than bring Billy on

We just struggled against one of the poorest teams to grace the PL for a while. New soft penalties and VAR saved us from defeat.. One player who had all this we sent back besic he can't get a game in the cup for Everton. Lundstrum any other

I can’t forget where we were and what he’s done for us but the question has to be asked. Do we support CW at all costs or Sheffield United’s future?

Cant see us buying a win anytime soon.

Fire away 🤬🤕
I hate to say this he seems stubborn and devoid of ideas the lack of anything I said static. Fulham Leeds not so much villa looked creative players with craft and Berge is brilliant but it is like we want players 6 ft etc who are built well nothing of real quality

Amount of people saying the poster has a point is mental

I'd like to retract this earlier comment. The amount of people saying this is ridiculous has actually made me feel slightly better about our situation. First day on the forum, I'm going mental with the likes

This is surely a fucking joke post?!

Anyone seriously thinking this needs to fuck off, and when they’ve done that go fuck off some more!!!! Get out of this club and never darken the doors again.

He should have the job for as long as he wants it. Not a single manager in world football could have done what he’s done with us, and not one would fare any better with where we are now either.
Yes he’s been given money, but like it or not it’s all proportionate and it’s not enough to take us to the levels needed to maintain top 10 football!

Gareth Bale came on as sub today for spurs. He was shit. Miles off. And if we’d signed him he would have made no difference to us at all

Haha, I just deal with facts. I said his transfer dealings were dodgy (in the main), I said Henderson couldn’t handle big games (pre Arsenal) and now I’m standing by the facts again ....1 point in 24 or potentially 33 is dodgy ground....is blind loyalty worth £150m?
So who 'factually' should we have as manager ?
