Is it time to change the manager?

The questions got to be asked so I’ll grasp the nettle.

Backed by the board, no complaints there
£45 on 2 strikers
Squad lacks athleticism
Squad lacks creative / technical players
Refuses to explore foreign market
Still tries to polish turds
Seems to lack Plan B other than bring Billy on

We just struggled against one of the poorest teams to grace the PL for a while. New soft penalties and VAR saved us from defeat.

I can’t forget where we were and what he’s done for us but the question has to be asked. Do we support CW at all costs or Sheffield United’s future?

Cant see us buying a win anytime soon.

Fire away 🤬🤕
Ok old friend I’ll fire away.... PISS OFF YA DAFT OWD SOD! 😁😉

That said I hope by the end of the season I have made in your words myself look a prick otherwise it will look like prick city on here given some of the replies.
I've got to agree, I think the post is daft but some of the responses are making me shake my head I'm hoping not all of them are adults, (not my response of course mine was utterly hilarious).

It feels like we are the Norwich of last season.
Should we change manager? No

Even if we get relegated we should keep Wilder and see how it goes. This and next season will be a big test for him.

The only time I’d say change the manager is if some billionaire came in and we were looking at managers like Ancelloti. Until then Wilder is the man for the Blades

Disagree, when it’s going this bad (and it is) I won’t shy away from debating why.

I’d totally ignore the rude and aggressive comments.
You have put up some great points and I’m sure if we end up having another great season you will hold your hands up.

Sack him, no, but his stubbornness and some of his recruitment have to be brought into question. The buying of players in the last two years, playing a handful of games and then being shipped out is baffling to say the least. Are the management and scouts doing due diligence on these players? We go on about scapegoating players on here but the fact is that some playing now are not up to it. Not their fault, just a fact in my humble opinion. Will probably get a 'fuck off' from some but is McBurnie any better than Gary Madine? Madine was worth a punt at a couple of million, if it didn't work out, not the end of the world. £20m for McBurnie. Swansea saw is coming I'm afraid. If we do go down, hopefully crowds will be let back in by then. I would bet on us to come straight back up. Obviously want us to stay up but if we do go down it's time to get rid of some of the older players. Jagielka, Sharp, McGoldrick. Money trimmed off the wage bill to make way for younger, hungry players. I want Chris Wilder to stay even if we go down BUT please don't start going the way of Warnock, the most stubborn twat known to man.

Get rid of Wilder get real must be a wendyite.we were shit when sir Chris arrived, in league one. we are in the premier league, now.
it is disrespectful he is the best manager since John Harris think where we would be without Sir Chris.just because with things are not going our way at the moment.
No need to panic. IN WILDER WE TRUST.

Wilder deserves his share of the criticism.
However, he's got far too much credit in the bank for us to be putting his position under review.
What is fair to say though, is that he has underperformed since lockdown.

His substitutions aren't having the right impacts in games. In fact, recently (Lundstram v Leeds, Burke v Arsenal, McGoldrick v Fulham) they've been having adverse negative effects on the team and we've been surrendering any semblance of control we might have had in games.

His starting lineups have been off.
He keeps sticking and twisting with his front line, never seemingly finding the right balance.
Lundstram on the left today? A reluctance to play Ampadu. Berge at the base of midfield etc... all have been questionable decisions.

In the transfer market, letting Luke Freeman go on loan was of no benefit to us.
It didn't release funds for us to source a replacement & we have no recall clause. We're now in a mess with Fleck injured.
With the busy schedule of international fixtures, this wasn't unforeseeable, he should have protected us better from this situation.
Many of us called it - "we're 1 injury away from a crisis in midfield."

Generally, not bringing in any midfielders seemed (& still seems) an odd decision.
We play with a 3 and we are not blessed with much creativity, or ball carrying prowess within the personnel.
This, more than anywhere else, should have been our focus in the Summer. I would have loved to have seen us go out and get somebody like Buendia.

Up front, you have to start questioning McBurnie at this point.
I'm watching Che Adams' impact at Southampton (£13m), Maupay's at Brighton (£18m), Bowen's at West Ham (£16m) & I'm wondering whether McBurnie was the right choice for us.
Maybe those players were unobtainable, but then we have to look abroad.
McBurnie plays well once every 5 games. His finishing is atrocious and he doesn't have enough of an impact outside of the box (a la McGoldrick) to justify the outlay.

Wilder gets far more right than he gets wrong.
I don't see him as "stubborn" as others do, he's always changed his side, or shipped a player out if it isn't working... but I don't think he's infallible either.

In conclusion, no - now is not the time for pitchforks.
In fact, I don't know how bad it would have to get for us to even look at it.
For me, even if we "Derby'd" it this season, I'd still want Wilder at the helm leading our promotion push.
And I'd back him to have learnt his lessons for if / when we did make it back up.

This reflects my feelings too. We have either not bought particularly well, or bought well (IMO) and then not given the player a chance. If money’s tight, we can’t waste a pound of it. I hope Lowe and Bogle are amazing but back-up wingbacks (because apparently Baldock and Stevens are undroppable) for £10m seems bizarre. And Freeman was never given anything like a fair chance before being LOANED! If he has no future then at least make money on him. Loan benefits us in no way at all.

If CW suddenly had access to a billionaire chairman's cheque book, i'd love to see what he could do with this club as oppose to showing him the door and bringing in someome like Ancelloti, personally mate.

Im keepjng the faith a bit longer yet. Its not like we're playing badly. We're creating chances but missing sitters. Itll change, i feel.
Fine margins and all that.

But we weren’t!

Non so blind as those that won’t see. 8 PL losses on the trot, worst start to a season since 2003 apparently. How bad does it have to be for anyone to question if CW has what it takes to build a squad and keep us in the PL.
If it was a player doing so bad we’d be queuing up to get rid eg McB

You wouldnt give a glowing report to an employee that was consistently underperforming.

Hard question to address but it needs addressing not just ”wanker post”
Is that a picture of you dressed as a clown?

People saying the OP is just asking the question not advocating it! The fact that there are people in our fan base even asking the question at this stage shows you everything you need to know about the modern day football fan! Utterly ridiculous!

Exactly this.

I’m starting to wonder whether he’s actually better trying to wheel & deal on a tighter budget. The value for money of the £100m+ spent since we were promoted has been mixed, and that’s being generous.

My biggest concern is that there doesn’t seem to be any desire to try anything new in terms of formation or tactics. We’ll keep playing the same every week and just hope that things get better.

We can blame our terrible start on bad luck, injuries or whatever, but today has to be a huge wake up call for Wilder. We clearly weren’t good enough today against a poor side and hopefully he’ll see that we’ve got to try something different, even if it’s as simple as playing McGoldrick behind the front two.

Wilder is beging to piss me right off. Bleating like fuck after 4 defeats and one goal how we desperately need help
Then gets a gift of ,£23m to purchase a young vibrant striker, who he then leaves on the fukin bench until so late that the game as sunk into a dross mishmash. Shit managing.
Our new striker is not yet match fit this being the reason for him being on the bench.Un less of course you think he should have been on the whole 90 mins and risk him getting injured and laid up for the next 6 months.

Stay loyal to the group.

Be a fan.

Don’t call for the manager’s head after 5 games of the season.

Be united behind the banner.

I’m not sure how much clearer to put it.

It’s going to be backs against the walls from now until Christmas at least. Back the lads, back the manager, we would be in league one (at best) without him, and instead you are here in the premier league arguing about which of our £22.5 million pound strikers to hate the most and if we should sack him before or after we match up against two of, arguably the greatest teams to have ever played the game.

Just think how far we’ve come. You sound like such an entitled person when you say these things. You come across like you haven’t given ANY thought to context or the bigger picture in any way.

Who else, in world football management do you want to come in and make Jack Robinson (forest reserve) play like a champions league winner rather than just the premier league player he already does? Who is out there that is going to squeeze anything else out of these players? If the answer is ‘nobody’ then what’s the point in sacking him? If your answer is ‘but the squad is shit and that’s wilders fault’ then what are you proposing? Sacking him as some form of punishment? After all the good things he’s done? What you’re saying just isn’t logical I’m afraid.

To put it simply, you’re acting like a little girl. And not in a good way.

Just so I’m clear, where can I find the list of opinions I am allowed to have? Don’t want to upset the hive-mind!

I'll write us off here and now if we start pissing about with changing Wilder
Well said mate who the fucking hell do this lot think could better than what this guy has done in such a short time? They have such a short memory some people ,surely he has earned and would expect some loyalty from the fans ?THEY SOUND LIKE PIG FANS .Lets do what supporters should do and actually support the guy.Yes we are going through a bad patch but can not think of a better guy to have in the gaffers chair at this time.If someone on here can think of someone please tell us know who that might be,
