Is he a figment of our imaginations?...

Damn you LYDON!!!! I was just about to issue clue number 2...........

Woolford, Hammond, Edgar, Sammon.

What's not to like? I don't know what you're getting at.

He's doing a sterling job.

In fairness Turnbull may have supplied the Technical team with a dossier full of players he has watched over the past few months or years that could do a job for us. He has a history of identifying players, while at the Iron Turnbull uncovered players including Gary Hooper, Andy Keogh and Martin Paterson and also scouted Billy Sharp who Scunthorpe paid £100,000 for his services. Obviously he may be part of the problem but I think others at the club should take more of the blame IMO

And today's scapegoat is........

Yep. Yesterday it was the board for not spending one penny. Turnbull could be filing player dossiers daily but if we aren't going to spend it may not be his fault. But let's pull him into the mix based on nothing but supposition, just to cover all " I told you so" bases for the future.

In the real world if a business is underperforming the man/woman/transsexual at the top of the pile gets the blame.

In SUFC world any cunt but Mcabe gets the flak.

As it’s a figbox of my imagination, all I can see in the first post is a picture of Barbara Castle carrying a Ronco Veg-O-Matic sat atop a lion dressed as a lollipop lady. Have any other readers ever mixed strong painkillers with extra mature cheddar?

I never even knew you could get lollipop lady costumes in a lion’s size…

There's nothing to suggest that he isn't doing a very good job. There's a lot to suggest that those in charge of player investment are doing a bad one.

You could be right.

I reckon he's on a work to rule until we sign Dan Burn.

"I've told you he's the best CB in England, now you can fuck off if I'm telling you anything else until we sign him".

think you may be right there, sounds from Jim's interview like they haven't even got a Technical Board in place.

He probably has a whole list of decent players but he will have said that we will have to actually open our wallet to get these players.

Although knowing our board if the value of the players goes beyond the £10 mark then they will have thrown his dossier in the bin and gone to watch our under 21's play instead.

As a scout for Scunthorpe it's not such a leap of faith to think he has a dossier of players well within our price range. I think any scout worth his salt will be monitoring players over years not weeks.

What if there was a misunderstanding and he was actually a SPOUT at Scunthorpe?

An integral piece of the guttering and rainwater clearance system I will grant you, but not really what we wanted. This would explain why he has been so ineffective at BDTBL where most of our downpipes are internally fixed.

Just sayin' like.......

I am sure he found some decent freebies as well but they still cost wages which is something we don't want to spend a lot on either.

My concern is NA appears to be targeting Championship players, they are all older professionals they will not improve and the resale value will be minimal and certainly come requiring a decent wage. The argument probably they will be able to cope in the Championship, unfortunately we have to achieve promotion first to test that theory. I would prefer to sign players on the rise who can improve and will have a resale value, rather than the short term fixes NA appears to want. From somewhere the powers that be have develop a strategy in recruitment that can continue regardless of who the manager is. This continual turnover of players over the last few years is downright stupid and a total waste
