Is anyone else concerned

Thats whats happened to a certain player ,and you seem to take a lot of your ITK info from his Dad in my opinion.

I'll tell you this much if jack leaves us for spurs he's playing for England in the Summer.. That's how good he is and he'll never play league 1 again Fact

Well at least wilder got his new contract first.

Best signing of the window
Like Chris said many times he knew is budget before the window opened don't think he said if he was happy with it or not

But Im sure he's happy with is new contract

why oh fucking why are fans in the least bit concerned over what our players earn

are they being asked to contribute
take Basham
started on a few grand a week in league one , seen a steady rise in his income
might be getting near 20k a week here in the prem
is he happy, of course he is, but more through playing in the prem I reckon than the thickness of his wage packet

And thats how as a club we have to be until we've been in the prem 4 or 5 seasons tp avoid financial armageddon like the Charlton boltons and sunderlands and now Stoke who paid 65 70 million a season in wages and for what,,,, just staying in the prem

it's not for fans to worry about how much a player gets
when we had woodward and currie no one ever asked what wages are they on, never even surfaced

what does it fucking matter to us fans, all I care about is they run about a lot and try

I've read that our current wage bill is £15m which is laughable when looking at the numbers above

Who wrote that? They must think that the players took a promotion pay cut whoever it was.

I'd estimate that our current wage bill is around £35m-£40m based on an average of £30k a week across the 25 player squad plus other bits across the wider squad. Some will be on more, some on a lot less but I don't think it will be that far away as an average.

By the clubs seemingly rigid wage structure? I fully appreciate the "no Billy big balls" view, but we are sitting 7th in the prem. If teams in 1st to 6th are paying their players twice as much then as much as it pains me to say it then our lads deserve the same. I'm worried that we will end up losing some of our key players eventually.
We are in a very unique position with CWAK where players who come here have shone way above their station... and players who have engineered an exit have fallen sharply by the wayside.

The players cannot leave without risking their careers, as Wilder sustains their performance levels and they enjoy the football and success that comes with it. Wilder has hand-picked players who strive for success and that is why they stay, and if not, fuck em.

They know that if they demand higher wages then Wilder will offer the door, and probably risk their careers in the process as is evident with those before.

Wilder has built a team in which only those who really do shine can earn a positive exit elsewhere, as naturally, clubs will be in for them, and that is fine for them to leave under the CWAK model, as every person is replaceable

Colin Morris are you a pig plant ? you seem to enjoy bringing our signings down and picking an argument with contributors who dont agree with you.
We all joined the forum at some point but you seem to want to disagree with everyone.

I don't entirely agree, but I think you've got a good point in so much as, if we are paying way below what other clubs at our level are paying, then we risk people leaving to get better wages. The bit I disagree with is, "our lads deserve the same". I think what our lads deserve is to be remunerated at a level that is appropriate for their skills and experience. That's quite different to saying they should deserve the same.

e.g. if Messi signed for us tomorrow, I dare say that he'd expect to be paid more money than any of the existing squad - and that would be fair, because his skills and experience warrant it.

I think because of where we've come from, a lot of the lads will be on lower wages than those established players in the Prem. If we can't compete on wages then we have to tie them in with other longer term incentives. And those can be linked to the team performance. I hear that's what we've done? I believe they all get a share of £10M if we stay up for example. That's really sensible because it encourages them to stay and it doesn't put us at any risk, because if we stay up we can easily afford it.

The other thing to think about is how much playing for this club and this manager means to these players? Not everyone is a mercenary although some are and, tbh, I don't blame anyone for looking to get a better deal for themselves in life. But money isn't the be all and end all. I think there are situations where we can pay our players less than they might get elsewhere if the other things they get by being here are valued enough.

e.g.
  • regular first team football
  • being recognised for international honours
  • enjoying the social aspects associated with the club
  • happy living in the area
The bottom line is, if it's all about money and they are good enough, then there's nothing on earth we can do to prevent them leaving for that. So there's no point in trying to compete on wages with some of these clubs. I think there's a real danger in that and I think it will be the downfall of some clubs over time. A sensible wage structure, linked to individual and team performance, attractive long-term incentives and the points bulleted above will all help us to retain players despite higher wages being on offer elsewhere.
