So the cup tie we've all been waiting for finally arrives seeing the Blades travel to Ipswich in the third round of the FA Cup. I'm sure most Blades fans had fingers crossed as soon as the first ball was drawn, that we'd be the second number out of the 'bowl'. NOT :) :D

Anyway, it is what it is, and I'm sure the Ipswich fans are equally as underwhelmed. However it's still a game I want us to win but with sweeping changes in view of the next game on our Calendar....

So...

Any team news? :)

Wright seems at least one of the changes?

Sharp to start?

With the likes of Lafferty and Lavery also likely?

I think avoiding needless bookings, unlucky injuries and a draw are all on the agenda for today. For the sake of the travelling support, I hope we get the win, however this match will not be a morale breaker should it go the other way. No idea what kind of side they will put out, but I'll still go for a 2-1 Blades win...please.

I know some fans are not interested in the cup this year but what's better than beating the pigs twice in one season? Beating them 3 times of course, who knows who we could get in the next round, that's the beauty of the cup.

On the one hand.................YAWN

On the other hand

I’m going to this for some unknown reason. I know that Wilder will play a reserve team but I’m actually looking forward to seeing what some of our fringe players can do. UTB

Let's see what the kids can do, they're the future......

Dont understand why people wouldnt go to every game. For me this is like a home game but I travel all over the country following us and its a better comp than the awful carabao shitfest.

Nathan Thomas starts today. Ched Evans still not in the match day squad.

(Because the club can never, ever put the team out in any sort of positional order I'll do it for you)

Blackman

CCV Stearman Wright

Baldock Basham Carruthers Lafferty

Thomas

Sharp Lavery

Happy with that side apart from the risk in Baldock playing, wish we had more cover down that side.

I'm surprised about Baldock playing. I'd have started Norrington-Davies. We really don't want to lose Baldock ahead of the Derby.

As for line-up, I assume:

Blackman

Baldock Stearman Wright CCV Thomas

Basham Lafferty

Carruthers

Sharp Lavery

Although, I guess he may change formation. It just looks a bit of a mess with those players. If we were keeping the same formation, it probably would have been more prudent to play Slater instead of Basham and give the big guy a well deserved rest.

Might be right about Lafferty in midfield actually.

If Baldock gets injured we MUST get someone in to play RWB on Friday.

Leonard could play RWB but still a risk to play Baldock.
Where is heneghan?

Have to assume Heneghan's close to a loan move because he would've been a nailed on starter today.

well that's it, Nathan Thomas has to start every game.

It didn't even occur to me that we might win this. Sounds like a decent strike from Thomas which is a bonus.

stearman AND wright
it’s the way forward..

Stearman for me has been pick of the bunch so far – an excellent half. Overall a steady game for most. Not wishing to add to his recent criticism but Carruthers has hit two 5 yard passes straight into the dugouts. A fine goal for Thomas, and nearly an excellent one for Basham (on reflection probably should have squared to an unmarked Sharp, but it did open up for him).

How are they set up Luff? Can't make any sense of the team sheet.

Have Ipswich made any changes to their usual first 11?
Had a look down their team sheet, a couple of lads in midfield who haven't started many and a defender with only 7 games to his name otherwise they're all experienced (not saying it's their first choices though).
