“If we lose Waghorn to Sheffield United, you’ve got to question where we are as a club.”

What is it with all these shit fucking irrelevant clubs with a handful of fans that always have a strange sense of entitlement? They’re on the same level of arrogance as Arsenal and Man U fans but they’ve actually got something to be arrogant about.

As Inbred like their supposed ‘local (45 miles away) rivals’ from Norwich.

To be fair, I get their point. I wouldn’t have been too amused if Eddie Howe had been making noise about their bid for David Brooks. It is a clear unsettling tactic and the objective, clearly, is to encourage the player to submit a transfer request. It’s unusual behaviour from Wilder, but the Transfer World is a dirty one and occasionally these tactics have to be deployed.

Where Waghorn is concerned, I still don’t think we have the clout to afford him and I suspect that a club higher up the financial food chain will gazump us.

True, yet their manager has done the same with the Blackpool player they're after.

Living in Sheffield I almost forget that Radio Sheffield is the press. It seems like there's only us that listens to it, and then only after a match.

Maybe Chris didn't think anyone but Blades would be paying attention so he thought, fuck it, it's all over S24SU anyway.

I'd probably not like anyone talking about bidding on our players to be fair but I also think that football fans widely are too fixated on managers and players being "professional" and "classy". It's fun to hear the inner workings and the odd sly dig occasionally.

'Remember SUFC are the Norwich of the north and not bigger than us...'

Err.....yes we sure as hell are pal (bigger I mean not Norwich wannabes ;) )

Wrong Wilder only commented after Ipswich released the bid had been turned down.
He never does ,a principle he adheres to unless the club involved blabs it to try and create an auction.
It's understandable there fans don't like it we react in the same way when it happens to us.Maguire and Brooks two good examples.

I think I'd be angry if another Championship club was trying to sign our best player. Let them vent, it's what we all do

They need to realise that post Bobby Robson and George Burley they have resumed thier natural position in the football hierarchy. They are a small provincial club and I am happy to point out that it would be a step up for Martyn. He could live in a large city where there isn't a requirement to marry your cousin and play for a bigger club who will finish higher up the league.

Ramsey, Robson, Burley. They have a trophy cabinet fuller than ours, with more recent trophies including the UEFA Cup, they’ve got a stadium roughly the same capacity, a wealthier owner and they’ve been at least championship club since ‘57 (the majority of which spent in top division) at the same time we’ve arsed about the leagues, but hey, we were shit hot when Queen Victoria was on the throne and then again for a bit when Hitler was on the rise. We’re a proper football club. :)

Some overinflated comments there to go with the overinflated price they want, 200k 12 months ago to millions now, hope he's worth it if he signs.

The East Anglian fans are a pretty solid and loyal bunch who have turned out in decent numbers over the years. You can hardly blame a few of them chirping up when a rival team's manager starts talking up a bid to buy one of their players.

None the less, having average crowds more than 10,000 lower than ours is a big difference. Unless they find somebody prepared to pour money in without hope of return, they’ve got to expect they’re going to struggle to compete at the top end of the Chamionship.

At least the Ipswich fans accept he’s a very good player and they wouldn’t want to see him go. Better than Brentford who seem like one of those clubs that turn on the reverse psychology “oh he’s shit anyway” “we didn’t want him” “haha you’ve signed a donkey” even though deep down you know they’re hurting.

Afraid you’re incorrect on this one. Wilder said that the bid was sat there, that it “hasn’t been accepted or declined.” Ipswich had never referred directly to our interest, but the media had picked up on it. I would guess that the leak came from either our side, or (more likely) his agent.

I’m also pretty sure Eddie Howe never spoke publicly of their bid for Brooks.

...wait...what?

They need to get their facts right before they start banging on about handfuls of fans, we averaged 10k more than them last season, and they life in a part of the world where livestock and fields outnumber humans.
