what I can't understand is why the ref had to consult his linesman to make the decision? Is he that blind that he can't see 3 players stood in front of Ramsdale ffs?

Very odd. When the ball went in the ref was looking at the linesman to see whether he was going to put his flag up. Surely he didn't need someone in line to tell him they were in an offside position. The question was whether they were interfering, which the ref was in a better position to decide himself.

I think he was just so taken aback by something he'd never seen before that he took a bit of time to get his head around it!
