International Break Reality?

There seems to be a widely held view that we don’t do well after an international break......but is it true?

Can someone armed with data shed some light on the reality? Perhaps the next couple of games after each break?

I do seem to remember that Fleck’s dip in performance coincided with his return from his recent call up.....but again this is purely my recollection.

What about the reality?

This season (IB Sept. 3 - 11th) Bristol City away 15th Sept. Lost 0-1. Birmingham home 19th Sept. 0-0.
(IB Oct. 8 - 16th) Derby away on 20th Oct. Lost 1-2. Stoke home 23rd Oct. 1-1.
(IB Nov. 12 - 20th) Rotherham away Nov. 22nd. 2-2. Brentford away Nov. 27th. Won 3-2.
(Next IB 18th - 26th March).

So definitely not our strongest set of results...... an average of 2 points from the next 2 games following the last 4 international breaks.......

Our momentum. Seems to go ,we go into breaks flying then find it difficult to pick it up.That's happened after breaks this season.Last one coming up we have to hit the ground running,I'm sure we will.

I think it hasn’t helped that we’ve been away to tricky opposition in all of those post-break returning games. Quite pleased we’ll be at home for this one.

Given the effort the players have put in, the last 2 games, and on an incredibly heavy pitch Satdi, this break comes at a good time .

can’t remember weather it was Sharp or Norwood but I seem to remember an interview Saturday and it was mentioned that the players were looking forward to some rest, might be a great time for the break right now because we don’t need them burning out..

January to March has been an absolute slog, we've survived some incredibly tough away trips culminating in that Leeds win. Whilst our record earlier in the season after these breaks isn't great, the momentum and belief we've built up doesn't leave me having sleepless nights we won't discover it come Bristol. We've been here before with Wilder, he seems to welcome the break, time to recharge the batteries and go again. At least watching England isn't so much of a chore as it once was. UTB

No doubt this period will already have been planned for. Such is the attention to detail, Wilder and Knill will make sure no stone is unturned, the players will find that although it may seem like a time for rest, those who need the help of specialists and physios will get it, as for everyone else, well maybe a day or two where they arrive late for work, but such is the prize within our grasp, I doubt that anyone will be given time off.

Maintaining a steady work load, keeping all squad players on their toes in case of any eventuality, these and more are the fine points that will make a difference.
