Good morning all,
The Inter Blades Football Team are running a "Fantasy Premier League 2011/12" League & “Head to head” Cup competition, but it’s with an entry fee and prize money. I wasn’t going to post it on Blades message boards to be honest as we’d had a fair bit of initial interest from within the team and I wasn’t sure about if there were any rules or regulations for running these competitions with entry fee’s/prize money. In addition, I know both main Blades forum boards are running their own free competitions, but I suppose you could just look upon this as an additional one. However, there hasn’t been as many entrants (10 so far) as I would have liked, and I noticed that several other forums (in general, not Blades ones) were running “prize money” FPL competitions, so I thought what the heck!
The entry fee to our competition is £20. Of the total money collected, 25% will go towards the Inter Blades funds to help us purchase needed equipment/competition entry fees etc. (so £5 of everyone’s £20 entry fee), the rest goes towards the prize fund.
As you’ll be aware, the Premier League fixtures commence this Saturday 13th August, so we would prefer the £20 entry fee to be paid before that date, however the final deadline for payment will be Saturday 20th August 12:00 noon. Anyone that hasn't paid their entry fee by that date will be removed from the league. After all payments have been confirmed, I will announce the prize money breakdown (as obviously that depends on the number of entrants).
In addition we are running a “head to head” cup competition (included in the entry fee) which will run alongside the league competition. To clarify, it’s a “head to head” league with a knockout stage at the end for the top 8 teams to battle it out for the prize money. Please remember to enter your team into that competition also. I will announce what week the “head to head” Thales FPL Cup competition starts once we have confirmed the final number of entrants (you need to know how many are entering to calculate at what round to start the games to ensure an even amount of games before the ¼ final stage etc.).
Code to join “Inter Blades F.C. League”: 36539-30462
Code to join “Inter Blades F.C. Cup”: 36539-311385
An example of what the prize fund could be:
If 20 people paid £20 each to enter a team into the league and cup competition, then there would be £400 in entry fees, of which £100 (25%) would go into the IB's pot, leaving £300 for prize money which could be split as follows:
League Winner £90
League Runner up £30
League 3rd Place £10
10 x monthly prizes of £10
Cup winner £50
Cup runner up £20
If you would like to take part in this league/cup competition then as well as entering using the codes above, could you also possibly e-mail [email protected] so that I can inform you of the ways to pay etc. (although if anyone would like to enter and pay cash, I’ll be in the Golden Lion pre-match on Saturday from 1:00pm while 2:30pm approx… I’ll be the good looking one ;-) sat/stood near the dart board/TV to the right of the entrance when you walk in).
Cheers,
Danny Brown
