There's probably another Top Ten for those of us that have been around a bit longer ...
Starting with this one in 67/68 - my first season at the lane as a kid... selling Mick Hill and Alan Birchenall within weeks of each other ... and relegated
Building the new South Stand to complete our ground and spending big money on Chris Guthire to keep us in Div 1 .... and relegated
Then there's losing at Chelsea when at leading at half time and well out of the relegation spots until the last minute ... and relegated
So if we think we've suffered enough in recent years ... there's so much more Blades Fuck Ups material that will keep you awake at night wondering "Why Us?"

You mean Mick Jones. He went to L**ds on 22nd Sept 1967 and Birch went to Chelsea at end of November. Mick Hill left us in October 1969

Lost 3-1 at home to Arsenal in the 2nd game of the 1975-76 season

Not yet seen a single episode but about to do the box set.
Same with the Sopranos. Both so venerated I'm worried neither will live up to expectations.

Game of Thrones is slow going in the 1st series while they do a fair bit of character building but well worth sticking with as just gets better and better by the series.

Sopranos IMO is the best TV show ever made. Absolute quality from start to finish.

I don't want to call it. But my views are:

• We were predicted to achieve nowt, by many.
• We started to play well, and were considered overachieving.
• I'd say we were then up there on merit, quality and playing style.
• We've blipped after injuries and lack of squad depth and form has suffered. We haven't been "found out".
• We now need the signings to bed in, to regain form and get back to where we previously DESERVED to be.

Lost 3-1 at home to Arsenal in the 2nd game of the 1975-76 season

Ah yes. That season started so well. August 16, the sun was shining, new South Stand officially opened, over 31k in the ground for a home match against Derby, our new £100k signing in the number 9 shirt. What could possibly go wrong?

By the final game of that season (May 4) United had replicated the 1-1 opening-day score by drawing at home to Newcastle. The sun was shining (I think) and there were nearly 30k in the ground. Trouble was, Great White Dope Guthrie had managed just 9 goals in 37 starts, United were rock-bottom of the top tier with just 22 points (2 points for a win back then) and relegation was confirmed before the final day.

Nowt new, this 'United disappointment'.

We beat Newcastle 1-0 (Guthrie) in our penultimate game of that season. We drew 1-1 (Woodward) at home in our last game to Birmingham that was played on a midweek. In the same night Wolves were playing Liverpool. If Wolves had won then Birmingham would needed a result against us to avoid relegation
