Be the left knee.
Penalty for me.
The stitching on those shirts must be some strong stuff.

That's taking the whole 'Sander, can I have your shirt?' thing a bit far TBH.

Get a flag and a disability like everyone else for fooks sake!

To get to the final of a men’s tennis Grand Slam event , the players have to play 7 matches over a two week period .

These typically last around 3 hours , although many go on for much longer . This requires a minimum of 21 hours play over a two week period . They are often played in temperatures around the 25-30 deg. mark or higher and by definition , when play is in progress the contestants are directly involved in every single second of the match .

By contrast , in a typical 2 week period professional footballers would normally be required to play a maximum of 5 games , totalling a mere 7 and 1/2 hours , in matches where the ball is only in play for around 65% of the time and in which their direct involvement is much less .

The above is not in any way intended as a criticism of our players and staff or those of any other club , but it has puzzled me for many years as to why this should be the case and in particular , why the greatest exponents of the game can sustain this hugely demanding regime until well into their late 30’s , or in the case of Roger Federer , the age of 41 .
And don’t forget they are hitting balls at tennis on their days off between matches. I’ve often thought that - if an athlete needs to last 90 minutes in their chosen sport, then train to last 100 minutes and then you are not over exceeding your body’s fitness limit.

Worth noting that tennis players are frequently injured and have a big break in off season. Also that it's a different kind of athleticism in racket sports. You're covering a small area very quickly. Whereas a football pitch is huge. Think 100m runners to 1500 metre runners. Also, it's a contact sport with one break.

Completely different kind of fitness and stamina.

Left sided players are like rocking horse shit all of a sudden.

As much as I admire the physical fitness of the top level tennis players and the schedule they play no one goes flying into the side of Novak Djorkavic in the middle of the 5th set after numerous hard contacts during the first 4. These add up to an accumulative effect in contact sports causing the physical break downs to be more frequent.

You need to be a sport scientist.

"Just train for 10 minutes longer lads.
Winner winner chicken dinner."

So, a boxer who is expected to go 10 rounds in a World Championship fight trains to go 6 - and gets pummeled in the last 4 rounds as he's exhausted.

I know it's not that easy but there is a parallel, surely ?

To suggest there's a simple, obvious answer for our players not to be worn out seems a bit far fetched to me.
If it was easy, they'd be doing it, don't you think?

Wouldn't surprise me if Baldock, Berge and Anel are all in the squad on Saturday. Hecky was even more coy than normal in the presser today - so I'm hoping he is playing the game a bit

Yeah, I think that might be the case.

Berge & AA maybe. He seemed certain Baldock wouldn't be.

Yep. Although Baldock has had some on and off injury issue for a while now that he says he has to manage.
