Never in the history of all the world's languages has a word been so understatedTomorrow it will be six months until we go to Manchester City for a potentially tricky away game. No worries it gets easier, four days later we've only got Liverpool away!

At first I thought you were going to say we need to be in 5th place going into that run of fixtures so it doesn’t hurt our push for Europe too much.that's why we must be in 5th round of the fa cup. just for the momentum of the club because we could be without a win in 6 going into February worst case scenario. & huge pressure on west ham. whereas win the fa cup game & gives confidence with might get a better chance of victory v West Ham

I'll enjoy those games over the Christmas period because no one gives us a cat in hell's chance of getting anything from them, so anything other than a good thrashing will be a bonus. I'm not expecting us to finish above teams like that, but we should remember that anything can happen in a game of 11 v 11 throughout 90 minutes.
Those who have been watching the Blades for more than 12 years, will remember us giving the likes of Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal a bloody good run for their money and beating them on occasions. As I said on my other thread, the Premier League has moved on leaps and bounds since we were last there and the amount of money in the game these days is just...well..I think it's vulgar. So some of the clubs I've just mentioned are now so rich and powerful that they can put out a team not just of good players, but the very best players in the world. That makes the job a bit harder doesn't it?But, it still doesn't make it impossible that we will get any sort of result from those games.
There is a danger that we are fed such hyperbole about certain clubs and players that those teams become "unassailable" and "invincible" in our minds. They're not. It's just 11 blokes kicking a pig's bladder up and down a field. (Think of it that way). If we set about them like we've set about teams over the past 3 seasons since Wilder's come in, we'll give them plenty to think about and it's not a foregone conclusion that we'll get seriously turned over or come away with nothing. Adding a bit more quality to our squad will help though!

People forget that we achieved 38 points last time which would have kept us up most seasons. We had great home wins againt Spurs and Arsenal that season and were unlucky against Liverpool, opened the scoring against ManUre missed a penalty before Chelsea scored. The gulf has undoubtedly widened since then between the top few and the rest but as Cerberus Blade says, a lot of it is in the mind and one thing this squad and management have is a great mindset.
true but you never know how the game might have changed, deflected Lampard free kick for their 1st if memory serves. We missed a penalty against Chelsea yes but I wouldn't put that performance up with the others. They scored then just shut the game down just pushing for the second goal. We were chasing shadows for much of that game.
Yep I know exactly what you mean. It does seem like “mission impossible” against teams like Man City in particular. But we can have hope I think. Hope that we don’t get thrashed too severely!its a good point, I remember the premier league last time & we were fantastic v big boys at home beat arsenal, lead Liverpool & Man Utd, should've lead Chelsea but for that missed penalty. & I really fancy our chance at home v arsenal, man utd & Chelsea. but man city without saying they are invincible they are good as. 198pts in 2 seasons, if you attack them they will pick you off & put plenty past you. if you park the bus they will eventually park the bus but you'll never see the ball & if Chelsea can lose 6-0, Liverpool can lose 5-0 what hope do we have

You just never know, our unique style of play may confuse them. And if not then we should revert to the tried and tested tactic of having lots of balloons on the pitch. That worked for us last time we played ‘em!

Yes and Fat Frank was allowed to move the ball 10 yards further forward - something else we'll be up against next season.true but you never know how the game might have changed, deflected Lampard free kick for their 1st if memory serves.
