That first half was something to behold as a Blade, we were fucking awesome, barring that one lapse in concentration for there goal, I thought we were fantastic. To see us score twice as well and take the lead both times brought about such a range of emotions as well. I hope I wasn't the only one that shed a few tears of joy when we scored, making me think "we might just do this, we might just do the impossible and make a final, with these players who I thought were utterly useless and spineless at the beginning of the season are now on the verge of becoming the most memorable set of players in the clubs history"

It was a lot to take in.

I've said that as long as we turned up, I'd be more than happy. They did just that, and I couldn't be more chuffed to bits for them.

Hope all the lads have their heads held high today.

I was so overcome at half-time, I couldn't drink for fear of throwing up.

I've received so much greif from them lot because I said I was proud of ghem on Sunday.

"proud of what" they say "you lost"

They just don't get it. Thankyou all at SUFC. Once again I can walk tall.

SEB, that seems to be in line with most other posters about the game. Everyone agrees we gave it our best shot.

From what I saw back here in Sheffield it was a cracking game, and apart from small but damaging lapses in concentration we did ourselves proud. It's gone now, but that first half will live on in the collective memory for years to come. Cloughie has built a foundation, now all he has to do, the Prince's bank account willing, is add those essential finishing touches that will make the difference to next season UTB

... and not one of the journalists mentioned it.

I watched it back on BT Sport and Rio Ferdinand mentioned it when they were talking after the game. He couldn't believe what he'd seen. I was so glad that everybody stayed to the end to give them the reception they deserved, because we were excellent.

I'm like many others and just so proud of what I witnessed this weekend. They left everything they had on that pitch and gave Hull an almight y scare, you can't ask for much more than that.

I turn 26 in 6 weeks, and I'm not afraid to admit that once I'd stopped jumping around like a lunatic after the first goal I sat down and I started to cry a little bit because I was just so happy and relieved. Before the game I said I was happy (and I said the same to Foxy and Linz on the concourse before the win at Villa too) just to see us take a lead in a game like that. It's the first time I've ever seen us score at a neutral venue and the whole match will live with me forever,

Another thing, too. My Grandad at 76 years old who has served in the army, lost parents, almost lost his foot in a work accident, had children and many grandchildren, just said one sentence as the players came out for the second half .

"This is going to be the longest 45 minutes of my life".

We may not be everyone's cup of tea, but this football club is bloody special.

Didn't know what to do with myself at the end of that first half. Stood there in my seat for a bit looking around, decided I needed to go for a bit of a walk. Wandered around the concourse in a daze, passing men my age either shaking their head in disbelief or wiping away the odd tear. Heard a shout from Linz, and went over to join her with Foxy and derrywan (who looked in a worst state than me) and he said 'here you look like you need this' and handed me a pint. At that point the bilious reaction of my guts said that will come straight back up so I had to decline.

If that's what scoring twice and leading at Wembley does, I'd better have paramedics on stand-by if we ever win owt! :D

When Scougall battered that ball into the net it felt like a whole club casting aside any doubt or fear. It was a goal of such resolve, such verve, utterly unprecedented for the Blades in our modern history, to score a goal like that in such a game.

The disappointment of the first 20 min of the 2nd half did sting, but by the end of the game it was completely swept away by pride. Unbelievable day.

Suggest you get in training mate, with Nigel in charge we might just win something yet, and the last thing I want is to see you on national TV doubled up because we finally won a trophy! ;)

Absofuckinglutely fella! What Scougall did was show that we're no longer going to roll over, I though the wee man was excellent for us, but let's not forget Murphy, although they put two men on him, he managed to show genuine class and made a huge contribution UTB

I can remember the semi finals in 1961, I was 8, but distinctly remember Doc Pace, having a goal disallowed for hand ball, when my dad still said to his dying day it wasn't. I remember all the good and bad times up to till Sunday, the memories of Darlington and Leicester, the heartbreak of Walsall and Wigan, not forgetting the Chelsea 'fix'. More heartbreaks than good times overall, but this season has restored my faith, Aston Villa was a highlight, but Sunday exceeded it. Take away the loss, but the team played magnificent in the first half, and the reaction when they scored there fifth was something I don't think I have ever seen.
Over the last 4 years my Grandson has been coming with me, home and away he is just 12, he now knows what it is like to be a Blade, he knows what support we have, he knows how much in the blood and in the heart this club means to you, it was a magnificent day on Sunday, nothing even the score and the morons can take that away.

I shed a tear at the end, because I had seen the pride come back to my team, my Grandson cried as well, possibly more in frustration that we had lost, but he has learned, that is all I can ask.

Here you are mattbianco1 :)

So many things to mention, the individual and team performances, three goals, what a cup run and season we've had, the overriding feeling that NC has 'given us our club back'.

But the one thing I want to say is this. Mere seconds after Meyler had put the game beyond doubt there were nearly 33,000 Blades on their feet applauding the team's efforts, knowing we'd lost the game. I think it was in part in appreciation for the whole performance, but it felt mostly like a unanimous recognition that they'd done the right thing throwing everything forward for the equaliser and we needed to thank them for that. I've never ever witnessed something like that at a match before, and probably never will again.

I cannot believe how close this group of players, the management and the fans have become in the last few months. We are truly United.

Although we lost, the manner of our defeat leaves me with the sort of feeling that allows you to hold your head up high and say " yes I'm a Blade "
We took the game to ull for all but the first 10 mins of the second half, amazed the commentators and I suspect, many watching neutrals and took a full part in the best cup semi-final for decades.

Well done to Nigel and his staff, the players and the supporters who were all awesome !!! ( not massive though )

Many positives to build on, over to you Nigel .......

Fantastic performance.
Well done players, fans, board members etc.

We need to continue the momentum into next season now.

Gutted we won't be there on Friday night. Way back in October I booked for us to spend Easter with my brother in Spain, at that time it looked likely that we'd at best be hoping to scrape a win to stave off relegation.

The players and staff deserve a good turnout for the final two home games to show just how much we appreciate that every single one of them has given us our club back. As I've said before on here not only have we got the never say die character we have known for so many years there is more skill than at any point in a long time.

Thank you

the more i think about that moment when the 5th went in,the more my chest grows outwards
as i said at the time to my grandson,im so so proud mate,NEVER forget this moment
he just smiled at me
hes a blade alright

I agree with everything that has been said on this thread. My first game was in September 1964 and so I'm just a few months short of fifty years watching the Blades. I too often fall into the habit of saying the old days were the best but that moment on Sunday when Scougall's shot hit the back of the net causing sheer pandemonium at our end was up there with the very best moments of the last half-century. A brilliant day.

Lots of my neutral mates would have watched us had it not been on bloody BT sport! Shocking really, but many listened and were impressed. Funny that our US and Canadian friends were able to watch live on proper TV!

I have to say even days later I'm still thinking about what happened after their fifth goal, we scored 3 cracking goals the memory of Scougall's shot hitting the net will stay with me for ever but what made the day for me was the reaction when the Hull fans were celebrating their fifth, 33,000 plus stood up as one to give their team a standing ovation, even the Hull end paused their celebrations wondering what the hell was happening. I may be wrong but it looked to me like a fair number of the Hull fans joined in that salute for players representing Sheffield United.
We have our faults but Blades are without a doubt the best fans in the world.

I know exactly what you mean metal, At half time I saw plenty of grown men of certain age groups with tears myself included. The reality of us leading in a semi final and the real chance of winning was an overwhelming emotion, young tops just put his arm round my shoulder and I said I just can't believe what's happening.
A bloke in front of me turned who was in his early 50's with tears looked at me nodded and said I know how I look now mate looking at you, like I said lot of blokes in their 40's and 50's were overcome with emotion and I'm sure plenty more were. after they scored the 5th, 33 thousand fans stood as one and applauded their team it was an unbelievable sight the likes Wembley had never seen before and the memory will live with me forever.
At the final whistle no one moved something else that you never see at Wembley when a team has lost, usually half the ground empty's but not this time, again a great sight and very emotional, this time it was my turn to put the arm around young tops as he had tears flowing, something I had done many times over the years watching him heartbroken, but Sunday was different it was total pride, when we came out I said one day you will tell your kids about what just happened and I will tell the grandkids because that was something very special.

Very, very proud. Disappointed, of course, and there was the period where Hull effectively won it and quietened the Blades noise, but otherwise I thought the fans were magnificent, behind the team all the way. Yes, did fill up when we scored the first two times, being a northern bloke I bit down on it, but still hugged everyone around me. Clough has given us our pride back, he'll no doubt have some tough times in the future and I hope the fans remember this for a long time.
I have great memories from the day that will last forever and I feel the cup run has brought the fans together again.
