Bielsa said he tried and couldn’t replicate it. It usually requires a fair bit of tinkering and the right players for the system to work. Wilder was able to implement it because he had the flexibility to try it since we had a lot of players from previous regimes on their way out. Which enabled him to get the players he needed.

Also, not many managers would brave the month or so we had of poor results as Wilder was getting the system to work.

Funnily enough, I was only saying last night that a fair few of the Man U side on show would struggle to force their way into our team.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen somewhere that piggy Monk has got his centre backs overlapping? Or have I made that up as I can’t find it now??
Either way, it’s not so simple to get players to do it, or find those capable.
I’m serious when I say that if Bash or JOC leave we will struggle to find the replacements. You effectively need players with the physical attributes of a centre back, but with the fitness and comfort on the ball of a terrier midfielder. So our current system may not be around for too much longer anyway.

I also think nobody can replicate it because it’s not a constant the system can be changed at anytime and often is even during a game.

So we only have 4 players ‘possibly’ walking into every championship side.

Only “Henderson, possibly o Connell, Egan, Norwood” the thickest comment I’ve read today and won’t be beaten.

For a start, if it’s a 4, 5 or 8 at the back Egan and O’Connell walk into every single Championship side without a shadow of doubt. Would make a brilliant partnership as a 2. Fucking ‘possibly’

There’s not many left backs better than Stevens in the Prem nevermind the Championship. Baldock walks into most if not all as a right back or a wing back.

Fleck does too, apart from at Wednesday obviously because Barry Bannan is the left footed reincarnation of Kaka.

McBurnie and Sharp scored over 20 goals LAST SEASON in the Champ, McGoldrick scored 15 and played generally the best football of his career winning our POTY. Mousset has taken our club by storm, Robinson scored double figures from the left wing and Freeman was generally accepted as QPR’s best player by miles for 4 years.

Basham probably doesn’t because his fellow team mates take their places in the middle of the probable back 4 that nearly every side in that division plays. Lundstram we can’t say does, because he’s never been as effective in the Championship as he’s been this season (odd). That’s it.

The lack of knowledge from opposing fans of the quality of our players is still astounding to me. The pundits I don’t care, media likewise, but these are meant to be people who understand football ffs. It’s embarrassing, if you don’t know what you’re on about don’t start talking about it.

I think it's absolutely expected and, probably, is reflected in our views of other teams.

I suspect the average fan of a particular team would know their players inside out. Good points, bad points, personality/fitness defects. Unless they are one of those that religiously watch every game in the same division that they possibly can, then the chances of seeing any opposition players is once, and for a few, twice a season. In these games they are concentrating on how their team play and other than oppo players who have a stormer or stinker, by the next morning most can't even name who played against them.
Add to this the natural bias when watching and you end up with a skewed view of the match anyway (you only have to look at some of the barbs aimed at Deadbat when he marks down certain players especially in the old Hoofy days when we played shite football but it was all we had and we had to "defend" it) and you're very unlikely to want any of your favourites replaced by outsiders.

The nearest I find to embarrassing (football certainly never does that to me) is how precious we've all become if anyone doesn't tug their forelock every time they've played us!

Except Brentford's. Egan and O'Connell weren't good enough for Business Case FC and anyway, they've got Pontus Jansson now.

Arf.

They’ve completely missed the point. We play that way because it suits our players. It’s successful because each and every one of our players gives 100% every time they play. We work as a team. That’s not some fanciful concept, it’s a reality, it can be measured by the hard yards, the recovery runs made when we lose possession, the absolute physical commitment to tackle, block, head, risk injury, the courage to receive the ball, to play the ball.

Right, for a start, no, I know plenty about other sides in the top 2 divisions. Some more than others. Know who's good and who's bad. It's not hard if you're interested enough to gain that knowledge.

One thing is for sure, I wouldn't create a thread saying we should imitate a certain teams way of playing when I don't actually know anything about them. Which would be clear if I said only 4 of their players would 'possibly' get in other Championship sides (despite them being 8th in the Premier League).

It’s not by accident that every single one of our players has suffered rejection in one form or another by other clubs. Everybody has a point to prove and that by itself is difficult to replicate, especially at “money bags” Derby.
