There was a thread after the Villa game with images etc from Villa Park, thought it would be nice if we had the same after last night.

I only took one photo, of the players coming over at full time, on my phone which has a terrible camera as you can tell. With the guy in front having his scarf up, I thought it would be a nice image. Then I checked it afterwards, and saw the topless guy just in front. Helps capture the moment, if less photogenic than I had intended!

Will add some when I get a few mins (not been home yet today) but for now, here's another quick video:

Great vids Foxy, the camera's fine mate. Glad you and everyone else got home safely. I was stuck in front of the box and as poor a game as it was, I was glued to the action throughout, well done mate

Just shared this with the London Blades after finding a London Underground app... enjoy... :D

Why does the GCB have to be sung at breakneck speed and tail off shambolically at the end? Our fans may be vociferous but very few have had music lessons. Every song is delivered as though it were a race against time.

It's hoof - Choir style.

Yes you're right. I would orchestrate it in the style of Ravel. At the moment it's more castrated than orchestrated.

Come on Pinchy, you must realise there's room for the likes of both Pavarotti and One Direction in the music business. Surley you realise success can be achieved with a multitude of styles?

:D

Yes. Currently we are the Halle Orchestra in the Cup and Jedward in the League.

This has got me thinking.

When I first started going all photos you saw of the game were in black and white and you didn't get any photos of away games in the local press or the programme (presumably because it was too expensive to send a photographer). Live action was limited to rare highlights on the BBC or YTV.

Now every man, woman and their dog takes 632 colour photos and videos of the game (except me that is - my phone doesn't even have a photo or video function)

It's called progress

Ah, but we were 'appier in them days, though we were poor or maybe because we were poor...

Think of it another way. Back in the olden times, the power to produce images was concentrated in the ranks of the 'Establishment' to use Bedrock Blade 's phrase, and now it isn't.

You do realise I am not making any deep seated political point about this and just being rather whimsical?

Mind you, I can't understand the obsession lots of people have of making their own copy of anything they see that is mildly diverting. When do they get the time to look at them all?

I know you're not, but i am :)

On your second point, i agree. I take far less photos these days, simply because i can't be arsed to manage them all.

Fair enough. As you may have realized, I have zero interest in technology and find it difficult to understand the mindsets of people who get all het up about it - cf my discussion with SellyOakBlade and our mutual incomprehension re his desire to watch Game of Thrones NOW!!!

I am not entirelt sure what "managing" your photos means - is it like putting your books or CD's in alphabetical order?

Getting them on to may computer, backing them up, correcting colour etc etc. I only make that effort now for special occasions, such as my upcoming holidays to Oz and Iceland.

Ordered a new underwater camera kit specially for the occasion.... :)

I ask in all seriousness. Do you have a life?

By the way, one of the most enjoyable things about moving (perhaps the only one) was the opportunity to re-order my 3000 + books :)

On my Iceland trip, I went with the lady in the pic. She took quite a few pics. I don't have one and don't feel bereft by the fact.

I like photography. Especially underwater photography. I aspire to one day capture a moment as beautiful as this...

And how did you order those books? Alphabetically? Chronologically?, or do you have a dewey decimal system going?

It's actually by categories. My categories are roughly as follows:

1. Labour biography
2. British Labour Movement General
3. International socialism
4. socialist theory
5. communism
6. General politics
7. British history
8. General history
9. SUFC
10. General football and sport
11. Law
12. Fiction (alphabetical by author)
13. Literary criticism
14. Economics
15. sociology
16. Science (v. small)
17. Classics (Latin and Greek - in translation of course)
18, Poetry
19. Drama
20. Psychology (mostly the other halfs)
21. Cookery (ditto)
22. Erotica

It's actually in a pretty rudimetary state at the moment and I expect many happy hours perfecting the system. Those winter nights will just fly by

Notice that when the fans indicate that a pitch invasion will take place if Porter scores results in NO stewards being positioned at the front to stop it?

At one stage it was almost at the stage of "we're on the pitch, if anyone touches the ball in opposing penalty area."

What taxonomy system do you apply when you have a category spanning tome?

What taxonomy system do you apply when you have a category spanning tome?

It's completely arbitray and depends on what I feel is the main purpose of the books. Thus the biography of Angelo Tasca who, at various times was in the Italian Communist and Socialist parties, goes under communism.

As I am the only person whos is ever likely to look at 95% of the books, it's my rules.
