I was replying to the fact that Monty would be the second name on Brisca's team sheet !!!
Whose the first Brisca Jordan Stewart!

thats not how it read.
can we please have one thread that doesn't decend into a repeated Monty / Blackwell bashing / defending contest?

I believe the ethos of the original thread was that great as Saturdays victory was and enjoyed by all we have not turned the corner and that there are several elements that need to be address before the Blades ever become a Premier League side again.
The last two games at the Lane have been both good to watch and productive in terms of points but it was Bristol City and Plymouth two very ordinary sides!
It may have been an effort to put the results into perspective!!!

It's typical of the facist approach used by the Montyphiles, Fiery. They laud The Maestro to the skies [which is highly appropriate as that's where he usually kicks the ball when 'passing'] and then blame the perceptive minority for daring to point out that the emperor has no clothes.

I can't recall ever starting a thread about Monty but I do reserve the right to expose the uncomfortable truth.

So you was the little child then:D
Nowt like blowing your own trumpet.
perceptive minority? sorry misguided minority

Lets face it at 3-0 we should have gone on to win 5 or 6 -0 and boosted confidence instead we clung on to win 4-3!
Similar to the Wendy game

I thought the only problems we had on Saturday were with the defence. For me, the balance in midfield and up front was perfect.

People are still singling Montgomery out which I'm starting to find funny. But I guess finding it difficult to admit you're wrong is part of being human. I'm pretty sure that the stats will show you Montgomery didn't commit as many misplaced passes as other players on the pitch.
Yes, Montgomery is funny. I'm not sure though whether the genre is farce or black comedy. Any half-decent midfielder must find him very amusing to play against - have a sly giggle as he gives you the ball then chases tirelessly but in vain to get it back - chortle as he provides you with numerous goalscoring opportunities from free-kicks, corners and penalties - guffaw as he skies yet another sliced clearance which lands on his own head - and then, wait for the side-splitter, he shapes to shoot.......

Oh and check your spelling like a good little Gestapo member of the language police, who is more like a Fascist than me. Don't call me that. Anyway Monty plays central not right wing.

I'm with you on this one Pinchy!
I honestly can't understand the support that Monty gets!
Perhaps its a cult thing and they can see no wrong
But to me, and I've been watching the blades for a long long time he is a long way from being a footballer and a very lucky man to have made such a lucrative living out of being ordinary!

Good spot Boo. I'm ashamed.

But to me, and I've been watching the blades for a long long time he is a long way from being the laughing stock that many make him out to be and a very unlucky man to have made such a monumental improvement to his game and still have people single him out as being no more than ordinary!

It must be obvious then that the managers he has played for read the game better than you, me pinchy or anyother fan in the crowd.
Titus Bramble?

They're right, Cbeebies does improve children's story-telling abilities.

There's nothing ordinary about Montgomery. If only he aspired to such grand heights....

I'm not really going to give my opinion on Monty, because I know exactly what I'll be accused of (I don't even need to mention the lad without the accusations), but I've got to question the validity of this one:

Any half-decent midfielder must find him very amusing to play against.

Just why do you think that? when all I've heard from other pro's is the exact opposite. I'd be interested to hear which other midfielders have rated/slated him, I genuinely would.

Perhaps your right though, the most high profile "rating" of Monty by an opponent was Patrick Vieira and he isn't "half-decent".

I think it said it all about the present day Harper, that having just come onto the pitch with the Blades under pressure, he stood, refusing to track his man, watching the play and pointing.

I'd love him to return to his previous successes and replace Monty in the side, but in my opinion, the midfield we started with on Saturday is our strongest.

A) How do you know that I couldn't make a living in the game How do you know I have not?

I don't know, but I'll put my mortgage on the fact that you haven't.

B) I base my opinion on what I see when I go to the match and watch from generally30 rows up on the halfway line. It gives a good view and enables spectators to make judgements as regards who can pass, control, keep the ball and who gives away needless fouls by losing control etc Its not rocket science - one doesn't have to be a fully qualified coach to see players' obvious limitations.

So the same view as thousands of others, including me, the majority of whom disagree.

Warnock, Robson and Blackwell have all ditched Montgomery at some time of their tenure and keep bringing him back because he's the only option. Brown Tonge Howard have found other clubs, McCall retired - Considering his abilities Montgomery is very fortunate to have made such a good living from football

So he's been dropped and brought back by managers all of whom have had millions to spend on alternatives, and haven't.

IN MY OPINION and this forum is based on opinions I believe!

Nobody is questioning your right to the opinion. I'm questioning the content of your opinion, which is definitely what the forum is for. You're free to question mine.

I honestly can't understand the support that Monty gets!
I can't understand logarithms. Or Swahili. Or Milton Keynes.
Or people who like "The Office", which is just drivel.
I'm not really going to give my opinion on Monty....

I will Foxy.

He's fucking ace.

If I had a sister I'd let Monty shag her. Really.

Perhaps it's in a way like Bob Booker. Not the greatest ever, not the greatest in the squad or even playing that day, but a trier who does the job required of him by the manager. And until we can afford to buy and play better then perhaps we will always have a Monty, or a player like him.

Anyway, that's it. I think he's great, apart from when he's not, which isn't often, and according to my wife all I do in my spare time is watch football, so I feel eminently qualified to talk about him.

I also like whisky in all it's guises, except for Teacher's, and I like Wensleydale cheese. I like vanilla ice cream, and I like steak and kidney pudding. I like cigars, and the smell of a new book. If you don't like some of these then that's fine, you can detest them all you like, you can write about your hatred of them every day but you won't stop me enjoying them. And you won't make me change my mind.

If Monty is the pinnicle of your expectations then you deserve all you get!
My aspirations for the Blades are Premier League but if you are content with CCC all your lives ..............................................................................................

Monty was one of our best and most consistent (in a good way) players last time in the prem.
Fact!

I always think that ending a post with 'Fact!' is a sure sign of immaturity, insecurity or both.

Monty was one of our best and most consistent (in a good way) players last time in the prem.

You can keep saying this, but it will never make it true.

But it is true. He played some of his best games for United in the PL. He has played some shite ones in the CCC but never did that season. He somehow raised his game to a level I didnt think he had in him.

I know some people don't like him and think he's shit, but it doesn't make that true either.

Cough... gentlemen.

Can we stick to debating the points at hand instead of getting personal please?

THATS JUST REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT.

If you cared to read my last then answer If you agree or not.

Right then. Put simply. Most on this forum consider him to be one of our best and most consistant performers and DO SEE his overall contribution far outway all the negative you keep throwing. Its not the fault of those that see this that you and Pinchy cannot.
Considering that he is one of our best and most consistant performers then I at least have aspirations of the premier league with him helping to fulfill that and becoming as before one of our most consistant performers in said league.
On the other hand Fiery if you wish to replace him with a lesser player costing more money then it must be your wish to settle for the lower half of the CCC and if thats your expectations then I suggest you go watch the pigs.
