I don't believe Ndiaye is a 'mercenary', so to speak. Yes, money will come into it - as it would we any sane person, but you can see he loves to play. Perhaps Maresca will allow him more freedom than Pep would.

I still struggle to understand why there wasn't a bidding war for him the year we went up.

He was absolutely outstanding in the Championship that season and the only offer on the table was £14m from Marseille. I thought we'd be looking at near double that from Brentford / Palace / Brighton etc.. their loss.

It’s because people are lazy and don’t pay attention to championship players unless they are already in a big club’s system and on loan. I remember that season lots of chatter about Diallo being the best player in the league lol.

Unfortunately his time here is like a long lost story now. We barely get a mention despite establishing the foundations of his career and setting him on course to being the player he is today. All the hype clips of him doing the rounds are the same four or five things he’s done at Everton, it’s like the stuff he did here is irrelevant.

I would think that in today’s footballing terms, signing for City counts as fulfilling your potential! There isn’t much higher he can go really, maybe Madrid and Barcelona, and he is now in that echelon if he was to do it. Good luck to him I say, it’s a pity we didn’t benefit financially, but I am happy to say I saw him play for us, some fantastic memories.

Talent wise the move he deserves was a pleasure to see him play for us as long as he did. Should really be regarded as a Blades Great more and more.
