Still never got an email from them but after complaining they have given me a month free so quite happy with that

Why the fuck can't you get it in Ireland.

Cos you can get Sky and British TV there. Saying that, you can in most of Europe.

Dunno how they plan to prevent re-broadcasting from abroad or viewing in the UK or Ireland using a VPN though. We shall see.

Great news btw

Right, some tech savy Blades. Please work out how to circumvent the UK block out please, not posted on this site I hasten to add but a few new twitter accounts created to post links would be appreciated.

Don't worry, Bergen Blade has volunteered to stick a Go-Pro on his head and Periscope his Saturdays for us.

If it was simply a website with username and password to access and providing that you can get around the block then £110 works out at £4.78 per away match. Great value if you can't or don't attend away games.
Question is, is it still illegal if you pay for the service and use a vpn? Or is it just a case of breaking the t&c's of the agreement and a ban is the worst possible punishment?
Hmm will be interesting this one :)

UTC!

Don't sky put the viewing card number on box office streams as a form of identifying offenders that stream live?

You wouldn't be arrested for personal use of a vpn, I doubt it is even a prosecutable offence. Pubs would get in trouble if they put it on though

I expect the games will be streamed to private groups like Blades Fans Live or similar. But they will still get enough subscriptions for it to be a decent earner and the effect on crowds at the Lane will be pretty small

Sorry hadn't read thru this whole thread before posting dup info

Until quite recently subscribers in most countries could access American Netflix. Unfortunately NF now block reception and as far as I am aware there is no VPN that can get round the block. I would imagine there will be a similar block on future streaming.

Other way they may restrict is not allowing a UK credit card address to subscribe. Not sure how Brits on holiday would subscribe, however you wouldn't want to pay £110 if you were on a 2 week magaloof holiday anyway. I tried to buy a 1 week Sky pass here in Oz and needs a UK address linked to your card billing address.

You can also tell from the card number if it is a UK issuing bank.

Should be no problems for me to sign up for the service. Can you record streams for viewing later?

Exciting news for us exiles, but I think I'll miss Radio Sheffield and Keith Edwards. It's exciting listening on the radio, not having a clue where the ball is, and then... SHAAARP!!!!

EFL have just announced "iFollow". Live streaming of every match, no matter where in the world you are.

Blades have this on their website, see here...

This is a revolution in the way that millions will watch football in future. I'm pleased United are supporting it. I have missed a number of games when working overseas -now I don't ever need to worry about missing a Blades game again!

I'm sure some will say it's a bad thing - but I think it's absolutely brilliant!

My bet is that they won't give a shit about people rebroadcasting games, in fact, they're probably banking on people doing it, as with any change at this level, we're guinea pigs for the Premier League. It's a way to test the market and the impact of implementing it (attendances).

They only mention not broadcasting it in the UK and Ireland as there are existing broadcast contracts in place.
