The farsical situation with the South Yorkshire Safety Committee and how and why our capacity is reduced with the overuse of netting. It seems that once we get back into the PL the ground automatically becomes safer and gets back to its 32,700 capacity.
The reduction in away fans has costs SU plenty of revenue, so why isn’t part of the upper tier used like mentioned in the original plans for the BLUT extension. There supposed to be a flexible arranging up there to section off parts of the concourse so home and away fans are segregated in the same stand.

Suspect the answer might be the SY Police call the tune and are demanding much higher payments if we allow more away fans in, so McCabe doesn’t see much benefit.

Also linked to this is does he really expect work to be done on the Kop and/or South stand and when?

Ive seen a quote from Mcbabe (I think) saying the diggers move in immediately once we’ve spent 1 full season in the PL and manage to stay up. Although that was about a year ago and things might have changed now.

Also remember seeing in the report that McCabes experts had considered all rebuild options. The beauty with the current plan is there wouldn’t be much reduction in capacity. The South stand and Kop can still be used whilst the extensions are being built. He rules out a levelling of the land and building afresh as the cost implication would be incredibly high. Imagine a capacity of 20K in the PL, that would be rediculous with some season ticket holders bring unable to attend.

He also said that he intended to build the Kop and the South stand at the same time taking capacity to 44,000.
