... promotion is still in our own hands.

Another magic season

It won't be a magic season at all.

It will be remembered as ultimately disappointing, and a huge opportunity missed.

That is in no way taking away how well everyone has performed and exceeded expectations, and deserving of huge credit for that.

However, please lots not pretend it will be magical though if we miss out on promotion from here.

You've not mentioned the budget. You have to mention the budget.

Tbf I'm not interested in remotely harshly criticising the team because they've done fantastically well as a whole.

I just don't buy the few comments I've read on here recently about promotion not mattering because it's been a great season.

If we miss out it will be remembered with disappointment and regret, none more so by the staff and players.

There will be little solace in how well they've done in getting close.

He didn't mention missing out on promotion though. If we lose the next 4 we've still got the play-offs, hence the 'still in our own hands' comment.

Unless you're saying that it would still be 'ultimately disappointing' even if we went up through the play-offs but I can't imagine you'd think that.

My point is simply that the fat lady is still in the dressing room. If we go for it like fuck for 4 games and it doesn’t work out, then whatever happens we still control our own destiny - win games 47- 49 and we’re still up - only Norwich and Leeds can say that.

Losers live in the rear-view mirror.

In future, it will probably just be better to make sure we stay mid-table all season, and avoid all this.

8th from bottom in line with our budget. CW can then spend the season like the footballing equivalent of the captain of a hot-air balloon frantically pulling on the string of the burner or chucking sand bags over the side keeping us stationary, making sure we neither under or over achieve. Success? I want stasis! ;)

I've maybe misunderstood then.

I thought the message was that it will be a 'magic' season whatever.

If it was in reference to winning the play offs, then very much it would obviously. Arguably the most magical considering our history.

Possibly, maybe I misread it.

I took it to mean that even if we lost the next 4 games it is still in our hands because we could still get promoted through the play-offs.

That's what we all want, That's all we've ever wanted. Super fans excepted of course.
