I don't think Scougall could make the step up, so we could sign someone to compete with Duffy longer term. Bradley Dack would be nice now his stock seems to have fell a bit, he's got the ability to step up.

Tufty will not just be looking. He'll have specific players in mind already. He's not one to stand still.

Yes that Coutts. He is performing well and has done for the past dozen games. I believe Fleck is the better player. Those 2 playing alongside each other works well in league one when we are very rarely attacked but I feel we need a stronger more physical CM when playing the bigger teams in the championship. I am not saying he wouldn't get game time.

Maybe I'm just an optimist but I reckon the majority of this squad will be decent to push on again, at the very least stay up. Barnsley are an example of a decent League One team who have pushed on. I think Wigan would have been better off keeping Gary Caldwell and they might have been higher too. Anyway for me the following will be good enough:

2 Freeman 4 New centre back 6 Ethan Ebanks Landell (if signed) 5 O'Connell 3 New left wing back
11 New centre mid 8 Fleck

7 Duffy

9 Sharp 10 New forward (Ched!)

I would say both Basham and Coutts will be decent squad players who will be able to play 10 - 15 times each depending on injuries and suspensions etc. Coutts is a quality player who may well be retained as a starter but if we're going to kick on again we'd need someone really quality alongside Fleck.

Since our relegation to this league there have been 15 different clubs who have been promoted to the Championship.

Charlton / SWFC / Huddersield / Doncaster / Bournemouth / Yeovil / Wolves / Brentford / Rotherham / Bristol City / MKD / PNE / Wigan / Burton / Barnsley.

I would imagine that most fans of those clubs during the course of their promotion season were of the opinion that they had the right players to make a fist of it in the Championship.

This team is doing very well but Chris Wilder needs to be realistic and show no sentiment next season.

Out of all those clubs only Bournemouth have truly pushed on.

Huddersfield, Brentford and Preston have all done well to stabilise in the Championship.

There's only Wolves really who you would have expected to be pushing on towards the Premier League.

If you break our team down into attack, midfield, and defence the only area where we way better than league one standard is midfield. Therefore the first priority if we go up should be to improve our defence and forward line.
