Although it would quite aptly describe the feeling that the fans had been shafted by a merger.

if we merged with the scum we'd be playing at attercliffe common in blue and red stripes and called sheffield city.. we'd still be crap even though we had attendences of 30k plus.. think newcastle .. leeds.. oh yeah and i'd be in graves park watching fc united of sheffield

Think I'd just turn the day into a proper pub day and sod the football

I imagine the scenario would play out as this:

The newly merged 'club' is abandoned by all.

Blades and Pigs across the city will unite behind Sheffield FC in joint snubbery of the newly formed Sheffield City.

Sheffield FC fly up the leagues ala Wimbledon and wave as they pass Sheffield City, Mandaric & McCabe and all 3 of their fans in their empty new stadium.

Sheffield will become a one club city as intended but with its history and prestige fully intact and stronger than ever.

Can't quite see the logic of United and Wednesday fans snubbing the new club because they hate the idea of a merger and then merging their support behind Sheffield FC.
