With us starting the season well, and if we win Saturday. Do we really have to be that bothered about the pigs result. Don't get me wrong, beating them will be as sweet as a nut, but the pressures on them really to get a result. Isnt this game a bit of a free hit for us? Our team can treat it like a cup game and go for it. If the pigs lose to Cardiff on Saturday and we win, the pressure will be all on them to get a win. And worse come to the worse and we lose, will it actually make a difference to our season? Theres always the return leg at Bramall lane. I think, for the first derby in ages, for us, it actually isn't, the Be all and end all for us.

I think it is More the case, no matter who we play we will want to win, no free games no byes, just playing our football and making sure we get as many points as we can, the Philosophy as not really changed from last year and the hunger and fight is still very present and instilled in the new members of the team, Wilder and Knill would have it no other way.

So if we get 3 point against Norwich, we will want the three points at the pigs as well. :)

Not the be all and end all to any reasonably level headed blade, but I'm neither. On the day, where we are in the league, and how far in front or behind we may be of the grunters on points is irrelevant, I just want to pummel the snortbeasts into the dirt. After, and only after, will I reflect on the implications of the result, good or bad. UTB/FTP.

Sounds like something Bryan "Robbo" Robson would say. And here's a picture of him holding a kettle. Enjoy!

im not thinking about the trip to the Nou Sty just yet. Still on a high from Tues. All focus is taking the game to Norwich, I really think we can damage them from the off. Hoping Donaldo is fit.

One thing is for certain from the outside and their side they're expecting a home win. They're a top 6 championship side and we're a newly promoted side.

We have nothing to lose for a change with us finally being the underdog and a LOT to gain.

I think the OP means

Wednesdayites are hurting because we've been above them in the league all season.

They would love it if they were 3 points behind us come the Derby next week.
Then they have the added incentive of knowing a win makes them leap frog above us in the league on goal difference.

i know what you mean a beating norwich & losing to wednesday or vice versa is 3pts & you dont get more points for winning the derby. i get the logic. but no never im pretty certain 99% of fans would rather lose to norwich if meant we beat wednesday. as it is the biggest game we have played since that hugely important game v Oxford. where it was biggest must win i could remember

What's with all this take losing against somebody to beat somebody talk?? I can't see Chris, Alan and the boys even thinking slightly that way. Neither should we!

Something special is happening, we're not that arrogant that we talk of anything less than 2nd place is failiure like our noisy neighbours but we need to remain confident, safe in the knowledge that whoever we play we'll work hard and we'll be going for the win each and every game, play like that and I can accept we might not win every game.

However we need to shut the pigs up, there really has not been a better time to do it for years

I know what the opp is saying, if you look at it pragmatically and ignore the rivalry, away to a £50m team that have finished top 6 in the last 2 seasons is one you wouldn't be gutted about losing.

Derbys are separate to the league IMO and bring their own pressure but it's really nice that if we do lose it doesn't put us in any trouble, so the pressure of that at least is off. Nothing worse than going into a derby needing the points.

It'd be nice if we can get more points than them on Saturday so they can't go above us. It's an easy comeback then.

It all depends on them regarding the result though. We know how united will play but it depends on how they turn up.

I won't be too down if we lose.

What would you prefer - beating them twice and finishing mid table or losing twice and finishing in the playoffs?

As we would probably lose in the play-offs, I'd take the double now thank you very much. Plus, I'd want to go up as Champions next season. Be nice for Sir Chris to have won all divisions below the Prem......

that's just plain greedy!

Even now, I think all the pressure is on Wednesday to win the Sheffield derby, not us. We're the little team from the pub league after all. They are the ones with the multi-million pound players and two top 6 finishes in the last two seasons at this level. They are the ones who've been telling us all summer how difficult this division is and what a big step up it will be for us. They are the ones who have said we'll get relegated and go straight back down. If any of this is true, what they've been telling us, then they will surely give us a right old thrashing. If they don't absolutely wipe the floor with us, we'll know they've been fibbing.

wilder will have them up for every game like last season.. we could have taken our foot off the gas.. we didn't.. we're relentless
