If we beat Florist next weekend will it give Blades fans some redemption for an awful season

You obviously weren't around during the legendary 4th division era which was far and away much more shit than anything happening in now
You mean the seasons leading up to 1 year in the fourth division and the erratic crawl back to eventually 9 years later the top division

It could and probably will be, another excruciating day at Bramall Lane for the faithful. Watching the scabby bastard's roll over us with ease and their fans taking the piss. Another final flourish to an excruciating season of pain. I think I might do the garden that day as I just can't face it against them.

Any more Blades out there keen.🤔.I would be.

Be a great fundraiser for a worthy cause.
Anyone with access to a studio?

In a word

No

Don’t give a toss about Forest - nothing will make this car crash of a season any better other than the owner selling up and clearing out

I would love us to send them down and would be more than happy for Luton to stay up.

However...the players haven't been motivated enough to turn up for the games that really mattered this season (Burnley twice, Bournemouth etc..) so I am not sure that "let's stick it to these cunts because of what happened to Billy two years ago" will cut much mustard with half of this mob. We have too many weak positions as it stands.

Maybe if we had Egan, Bash, Baldock and McBurnie on the field, then we might have the required leadership for a game like this.

As it happens, I can see it being another day to forget. MGW gets booed every time he touches the ball, whilst putting on a masterclass and reminding us all what a fantastic signing he was for us. He is bound to score.

Hope I am wrong though.

A lot of my blame lies with Tom Little.

So many goals conceded in the last 15-20mins, the fitness & conditioning coach has to take at least some responsibility there
I think there’s an element of that but in my opinion it’s more to do with the paucity of options in the squad. I remember Newcastle leading 6-0 bringing £150m of subs on against us. We’re lucky to replace with £1.50. To compete effectively in this league you in effect need two almost equally matched starting elevens. That way you’re not running the same players into the ground risking injury and when you do make subs the drop off in quality is more gentle slope than cliff edge.

Yeah I'd feel better.
But they have 2 winnable games (us being one if them) and Luton have just one.
I'd love to relegate them, but I can't see us beating them at all

I do think it's odd how many forum contributors don't want Forest to be relegated or Leeds not to be promoted because it will "make it harder for us next season"

That's because I'm not sure I've seen one forum poster who thinks we'll be promoted next season anyway?

Sorry guys, but i was. Since my dad took me as a little'un in the mid 60s. We have had dire times. Part of being a blade. I actually enjoyed div 4. Some great games. Away at Darlington is a lasting memory. 80/81 very poor, but we didn't lose 4,5+ goals conceded at home for several consecutive games. This season is a low point as a fan. For SUFC to capitulate so badly, so many times, is unforgivable imo. Of course, historically we are in a better league position. I'm not brilliant on stats, but I'm sure this season is our lowest ever points total per game played, most goals conceded per game and our least competitive team against our division peer group. Can you suggest any highlights in the whole season? 2 scrappy home wins, perhaps Luton away? I'm just looking for a moment of joy in a dreadful season. Football is supposed to be a form of entertainment, as well as our passion for our beloved Blades, the club, that is. Not the current staff, players and useless owner.
My thoughts exactly, also started going as a nipper in early 60s. Yes we’ve had many dire times, somehow this season seems worse with all the negative media stuff. One moment of joy would be welcome this season.

Chuck in a dreadful VAR decision in our favour and I'll certainly take it.

Yep….for those of a certain age the 1980/81 season was truly woeful. A trip to Swindon Town away where we collapsed to lose 5-2 sticks in my mind as an epic day out. Honestly some of you younger lot have never lived if you think this is bad!
Had some of the best away days ever, outnumbering the home fans was great

Not redemption in any way for the season, more a black eye to them because I don't like them. Hopefully Burnley finish the job last day of the season.

If we keep Florist below 5 goals next weekend will it give Blades fans some redemption for an awful season?

fixed it

I would love for us to put on one performance for the fans, to see the players really dig deep and end the season with a smile on our faces.

The following would be ideal:

Arblaster to cement himself as a quality player with a first half hatrick
Anel to outmuscle the whole forest front line... all at the same time
Vini putting his pointy fingers up MGW nose (and getting away with it) with him having to go off injured due to a nosebleed that just won't stop (to tunes of We don't care about Gibbs-white...)
Grbic comes on for Wes (after he gets injured) and falls the wrong way trying to save a shot but somehow stopping the ball going in whilst at the same time booting the ball long for BBD to run on to and score
Norwood to back away from a player only for them to inexplicably run into him
Trusty to be 100% trust worthy
Brewster to play the full 102 minutes (with stoppage time added), score and not get a red card (but still end the game injured)
Egan to come on as a 99th minute substitute and score

Any others?

It won't happen and even if it does, Forest will stay up when their points deduction gets halved.

Wilder really has to impress upon the players that this is a match that they need to work 100% to win, over the full 90 minutes. Not try for 45 and then give up as they have in most recent matches.

I want to see them battle, tackle hard, contest, chase, press and get on the front foot at every opportunity. They need to treat this like a must-win cup final.
If they fall short, then so be it, but they absolutely must understand that we expect maximum effort.

I want Billy to watch this with the satisfaction of knowing that we left everything out there on the pitch for him.

I was there, epitomised by Richardson(I think) giving a goal away by diving to stop a back pass going for a corner,I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong

Shouldn't he be doing that every match?

Massive yes from me . Ever since the nonsense of giving those wankers the top tier of the BLS to the shit immediately after final whistle . The bollocks at Sydney and Matilda and Industry ( SY Police hang your heads in shame ) to being abused mercilessly at the shitty ground at the final whistle .
Yes fuck them all Saturday

No it absolutely wasn't. The season before was pretty bad but relegation was only confirmed on the last day. The fourth division season remains very fondly remembered by any blade who was actually there. I have hated this fucking season.

I did watch some matches that season and the season wasn't as great as some have claimed.

I watched all of them. After watching us drop through the leagues, going to matches actually expecting something positive watching terrific attacking players at that level like Edwards and Morris. If I remember after a hesitant start for me it remains a very special memory. Were you at Darlington Silent? My point being comparing the current season to that one is completely crackers. Claiming it was a worse time for fans than this one is insane. I wasn't ashamed to be a Blade in division 4. I'm still not after this season. The misery of this season however might take some beating.
