you can come on this site for real suicide clincher.
Whatever the club does or says is being jumped on and beaten with. Even when there is no basis to the stories it is a case of; if it is a negative story it is true if it is positive one it is a lie.
We are close to signing on a season long loan, what sounds like a very exciting player from the 2nd best team in the PL. There manager has come out and said that he is allowing him to come here, above other clubs because of the way we play football and the set up. I don't think fergie would have said that 18 months ago. We have a young kid who has been released by Fulham and a couple of posters haven't heard of him; well he must be shit. A player who we never made any vocal interest in has not signed but because a couple of 'ITK' said he was signing the club is shit. Must be worse at PNE as there have been far more concrete rumors that he is signing for them and he still hasn't...
We have only sold one of our youngsters to a PL club for a very good fee, we have 3 or 4 more youngsters coming through, which is all positive but no the club is shit and we should be like all 3rd division clubs and say no to the moeny and the opportunity for the player.
Kmac and Willo are not employed by us anymore but we are trying to keep their interest. they are free to do exactly as they please. By keeping the door open for them the club is shit but if we close the door on them the club is also shit, a no win situation.
McCabe should just walk away and for get his money or he is not a Blade. As I am sure that everyone on here would do. How dare he want to get his money back or not throw another 10 million in.

Oh yes it is all the 'Blades Way'. How we ever got up to the Premier League or the FA Cup semi final is beyond me. Yes we have been unlucky but so has every other club.

Not saying everything is perfect, not by a long way, but it is not that bad either

We are 5 weeks away from the big kick off. Out of the players that scored so many goals and went so close to promotion we have lost (or haven't signed) the goalkeeper (no big deal perhaps), the creative right hand side of the team (Lowton/Williamson), the best CM in the division and the best striker in the division. We have replaced the striker (for the season maybe, or until January) but with an unknown quantity, the goalkeeper with someone who couldn't actually displace him last season and no-one else as of yet.
We have players who we can't get rid of, because they are on massive (for this and possibly the next division up) wages and who are draining our bargaining power away and who may or may not prove useful to us if they do stay and this means the manager has no idea of his actual budget to recruit adequate replacements for the players gone.

Things could all change in the next days and weeks, but to be honest I'm preferring the weather to our position by a long way (at least I've got a coat and a brolly to control how wet I get) at the moment.
Each to their own though and I think I can refrain from topping myself for a while yet.

Of which only half the first team will start that game more than likely

I think you might find that it will be the first team that starts that game.
What we have, already is, I suspect, the first team.

Nice thought, that?

Don't think of it as a crisis - think of it as an opportunity.

(I'm sure someone famous said that. Don't think it was Shakespeare.
Maybe it was Hitler in his bunker)

Like it, Broomhill - also like "but apart from that Mrs.Lincoln, did you enjoy the play?"

George (also an Old Centralian)

We are in the worst financial plight in our history, we have raised far more in transfers than we have spent in his time, we have paid huge sums to executives, we are in the third division, we have wasted millions on the wages of crap players, we have squandered tens of millions of TV revenue, our off field business ventures have turned to shit.

All on McCabes watch/decisiomaking

We are close to signing on a season long loan (didn't the club say in the past few years that they won't depend on loans? also, it why is it taking so long for a simple loan?, what sounds like a very exciting player from the 2nd best team in the PL. There manager has come out and said that he is allowing him to come here, above other clubs because of the way we play football and the set up What did you tepect AF to say?. I don't think fergie would have said that 18 months ago. We have a young kid who has been released by Fulham and a couple of posters haven't heard of him; well he must be shit Not good enough for Fulham it seems and have you forgotten about O'H and how bad he was? He was another young player from the PL. A player who we never made any vocal interest in has not signed but because a couple of 'ITK' said he was signing the club is shit. Must be worse at PNE as there have been far more concrete rumors that he is signing for them and he still hasn't..
We have only sold one of our youngsters to a PL club for a very good fee Will we see any of that money?, we have 3 or 4 more youngsters coming through, which is all positive but no the club is shit and we should be like all 3rd division clubs and say no to the moeny and the opportunity for the player.

But whilst this is happening, the club is at a stand still while we wait upon their answer. If nothing was wrong with the club, they would have signed in a flash.
McCabe should just walk away and forget his money (rightly so. His decisions have got us into this mess and he should take the responsibility. What happened to the days when chairman invested their own money into their beloved clubs without any strings attached?) or he is not a Blade. As I am sure that everyone on here would do. How dare he want to get his money back or not throw another 10 million in.

Oh yes it is all the 'Blades Way' (So how come the same things happen each year and the same excuses given out by the manager / board). How we ever got up to the Premier League or the FA Cup semi final is beyond me (By having a manager who could motivate his players, ). Yes we have been unlucky but so has every other club. (Really ?)

The club should start pulling it's finger out soon or it will be a very long season.

Apart from Man City & Chelsea pretty much every club is in their worst financial plight in their history, look at a club like Man Utd, now there is a club where I would be seriously pissed off with the chairman.. It is easy to criticize McCabe in hindsight that all of his off field ventures have turned to shit though I believe he was doing it for the good of SUFC and in that himself. He could see that you needed to have diversification away from the football club to make it self sufficient and ideas like Chengdu Blades and partnerships with other clubs does make a lot of sense. I just don't know enough about it to comment as to why it went wrong. And there are fitness clubs and hotels. I think that once we hit the PL McCabe thought that we would be there for a few years but as we have seen the first year is always the hardest and then he made his biggest mistake by hiring Robson.

Evans is a good example of the wages that have to be paid. For 2 years he was called every name under the sun on this site and how he was draining the club and then he strikes gold and suddenly he is worth every penny. Yeah we have a wage like Monty's but he has been with us since the PL as has Quinn. We have to work within a budget now and we can't/won't be signing players on contracts like this anymore and hopefully never again unless we can afford it. Players can't hold clubs to ransom anymore and expect silly wages. Maybe that is why K Mac and Willo are so slow to find a different club as clubs aren't willing to throw cash around as they have before. Players have to wake up and smell the coffee too

With all due respect nobody give a flying one about the finances of Chelsea and the Manchester clubs, most clubs in the lower two divisions are doing deals like us they signed up to the fair play rules so why can't we bring anyone in is a transfer embargo already in place until we reduce the wage bill ??? It is easy to criticize McCabe in hindsight that all of his off field ventures have turned to shit though I believe he was doing it for the good of SUFC and in that himself. He could see that you needed to have diversification away from the football club to make it self sufficient and ideas like Chengdu Blades and partnerships with other clubs does make a lot of sense. Apart from the sale of a few shirts just what benefit was the China club to us ? And please don't tell me How High is my Dong ? A loan to Ferencvaros did give Lowton another chance to come good but otherwise affiliations to Chendu, Fradi, White Star, Central Coast Mariners and Sao Paulo have not done any good at all. I just don't know enough about it to comment as to why it went wrong. And there are fitness clubs and hotels. How much revenue have these fitness clubs and gyms brought into SUFC ? and I'll not mention that piece of property development at the top of the Cherry st/ Bramall lane corner. I think that once we hit the PL McCabe thought that we would be there for a few years but as we have seen the first year is always the hardest and then he made his biggest mistake by hiring Robson.

With regards to finances you were using our current financial status to beat the club and I pointed out that every club is probably in their worst financial status ever and that is because every club is/or has gambled to get up to a higher level and the pot of 'fools gold' that is the PL. I really don't see much transfer activity at all from any clubs. This is the same every year and if you go on to every clubs chat site and read what the fans are saying tehn they are pretty much all saying the same thing.
With regards to the deals with other clubs, you are looking at it in hindsight and saying what a twat McCabe is because it didn't work. he didn't have the benefit of hindsight when he started these deals he was trying to diversify to strengthen the club and its brand and tbh with China's population size, economic growth and interest in UK football this was not a bad idea but of course you with your amazing abilities of hindsight before the project started could see that it was doomed to failure.
Again I will repeat what I wrote about the above with regards to the hotel and fitness clubs. All part of a, what I would consider a sensible policy of diversification to support the main product...football.
Yes, we should all smell the coffee and stay away/demonstrate or support another club.

I bet if you look at the threads in July for the last few years we were all saying the same back then.

Chill out !!
