In the last eight league games we have picked up 19 points, Leeds have got 17 points and Burnley have got 20 points. If each club matched this for the remaining eight matches the final table would look like this:

1. Blades 99pts
2. Burnley 98pts
3. Leeds 97pts

If you could be offered a situation where Burnley will get 20 points in the next 8 games, but lose to us.. would you take it?

I'm not sure that's possible - 8 games remaining, lose to us and its 7 remaining, win all 7 and they get 21 points, draw one and its 19 - there is no path to 20 points if you lose 1 out of 8 remaining games

Looking at the remaining games, I think Leeds will be best placed. Burnley and us have similar types of fixtures. I understand the sentiment that end of season games throw up surprises, so here's hoping.

Good spot!

Good spot! Let's make it 21pts then. Would you take it? Any change in opinion at 19?

The season could turn on the next two rounds of games. We have Cov home and Oxford away. Burnley have Bristol City home and Cov away.

It's entirely feasible we take 6 from those games and Burnley 2. Then we're 6 ahead with 6 to go...

Hopefully takes us to a point where if we beat Burnley, we're promoted there and then. Plenty of water to go under the bridge between now and then. They were really bad against Preston in the cup but we got tonked at home by Hull so both of us are fallible.

Plymouth away could go one of two ways. They might be in a position where they have no choice but to win to survive and battle their way to a scrappy win and drag us to their level or they leave themselves open from the get go and it ends up 5-3 or something.

Bristol City are the key team in the whole promotion race as to whether or not it gets blown wide open.

So if they take 21 - we have to take 20. You've given us the win at Burnley so we'd need 17 points from the remaining 7 games, or W5D2.

I would not take that scenario right now as I don`t believe Burnley would take 21 points

If they take 19 (so W6 D1 L1 from the last 8) we'd need 18 - or W5L2 from the games other than Burnley - that's a harder choice - aain I think I am rejecting the offer - still think Burnley will trip up more than twice.

If we are 6 points ahead going into that Burnley game - eeeshk - so close yet so far...

Unless they get a one point deduction for Parker’s dress sense which, in my view, brings the game into disrepute.

I do think Burnley have the hardest run of the three. As well as having to play each other, Burnley are away at Coventry and QPR and Bristol and Norwich (home) are no mugs.

We have Coventry at home and then obviously Burnley away, but in theory the rest are very winnable.

Leeds undeniably have the easiest run in, Boro away and Bristol at home being the toughest they face.

In the final run in odd results can and will happen though. Current points totals would suggest all 3 finishing on over 95 points. I suspect that won't end up being the case.

They have to go to Coventry. That could be the one.
We have Coventry at home the week before.

Those two games will be crucial I think. If we get more points against Coventry than Burnley does, then we're in a good position.
Yeah agreed. I can't see them only losing 2 games all season when they've been poor in matches.

Looking at our sequence of win runs below we’ve manage…..
