Indeed, it's a great phrase!

As a very general rule, if someone tells you that a word is an acronym for something, and that word isn't military or technological, it probably isn't.

Nonce, Golf (Gentleman Only Ladies Forbidden), Wop (WithOut Papers) etc. - all made up after the word was already in use.

Obviously there are exceptions but generally there are far fewer than people would have you believe.
