Tony Battersby was my great hope. We'd watched in the reserves all season and were crying to see him make the first team. I was so disappointed when it all turned to crap.

Other former players with exciting foreign names who didn't quite live up to expectations (this isn't related to Diego may I hasten to add who I would like to see get more minutes on the pitch)
- Jean-Phillipe Javary
- Laurens Ten Heuvel
- Wilko de Vogt
- Dries Boussatta
- Emanuele Gabrieli
- Hao Haidong
- David Sommeil
- John Halls
- Mihkel Aksalu
- Jean Calve (although THAT debut goal)
- Elian Parrino
- Davy Gysbrechts

Axel Smeers
Li Tie

Richard Tracey was another one like that, scored loads at youth level.

P
Said it before and I'll say it again. He was a fucking legend on champ man 92/93

I like this photo. His Dad looks really proud of him.
His Dad has been involved in local football for years and years, playing and managing.
He's had a huge influence over his football development as you'd expect after calling him Diego because he's a Napoli fan. He enjoys his football and knows his stuff.

I just wish young Diego could have come through without all the fanfare and fan expectation that is now going to analyse every touch.

who did he play and manage for ? Ive played and managed for 35 years but cant recall him.

Hope it aint true but rumours are he has done his cruciate ligament when playing for Italy u 18's?

If so that him out for this season and most of next.....just hope that it aint as bad as it says....

Defeat in a friendly match for the National Under-18 Alberico Evani, beat Austria 2-1 in Salò in front of about 600 spectators. The Azzurrini returned to play in a competitive match in two months after the last engagement in the Memorial Granatkin, it is not enough for the great goal by De Girolamo at the close of the first half, a network that has given Italy the momentary balance after Austria signed the advantage to 22 'from Grillitsch. In the middle of shooting, Austria has indeed found the winning goal with a penalty converted by Bytyqi and in injury time Gerbaudo failed the occasion of 2-2. What makes it more bitter defeat the serious injury occurred in the final race to De Girolamo, who reported a suspected lesion of the anterior cruciate ligament.

'never been so gutted / upset / angry before in my life #LowTimes #WorstMoodEver #OnwardsAndUpwards

Decent goal in the game he played this week. 4.35.

Nothing is official about his injury other than the above article etc so hoping it may not be as bad. Be wretched luck too lose him and Miller to most serious injury in football.
