If Adkins culls the Deadwood?

I dont think so.

He did after all bring in woolford and Hammond.

Would you trust him?

Just preparing the ground for Chrissy Wilder to come in & start recruiting...

He'd do himself no harm, that's for sure.

Although if as you'd probably expect Adkins and the board are on the same page regarding the retained list, they could just let him do it knowing all bar Long will be released and then sack him anyway.

Possibly, as others say, it depends on who he brings in and if he actually does it.

If he is intending on removing most if not all of the useless players we have it just makes his reaction on Sunday even more bizarre.

Why not play some more of the youth and why criticise the fans to a point where many who were undecided on whether he should stay or go decided he should now go.

At least if he'd come out and said seasons over, been poor but we move on with new players etc. it would have been far better. Why continue to not criticise the team if most of them will never play here ever again whilst turn on the fans, who will be here, and who will have a big say in his future, whether he likes it or not.

He needs to bring in quality and hope he has a good start because I now think that with a poor start he will be out. He's lost too much goodwill from a lot of fans this season.

Is all based on assumption that he realises he should lose 90% of these losers. I assumed he knew we needed two centre halves and a keeper and instead he started long against Gillingham with McEvely as captain. That decision alone should have seen him sacked at half time.

'Man in pub' ee say no contract offered to Hammond.
We shall see...

Half time?

Fuckin clapper.

Does that change anyone's view on whether he should go (or indeed stay)?

No, he should still go. The deadwood need to go regardless of who is manager.

Adkins has been a disaster and after his comments about the fans the other day should really have been sacked the next morning. He clearly doesn't like the fans, and in his own words says they will never change....they will change if given a bit of success and a team that actually cares.

The fact that he chose to criticize the fans the other day rather than saying it was the players and himself that have been at fault this season says it all.

If he replaces them with the likes of Sharp and Baptiste: Yey, Adkins in!

If he replaces them with the likes of Woolford and Sammom: Boo, on yer bike!
He is in quite a unique position now in that he actually has a chance to remove a large number of over paid under performing players and bring in his own.

In the past many managers have been stuck with these players on long contracts earning good money and going no where because it was only going to be down for them.

Get it right and he will be ok, get it wrong and he might struggle to ever get another managers job. It's sort of acceptable to say, well yeah at Reading and SUFC I was left with poor players, but have the opportunity to change most of them and either not take it or replace them with equally poor players and then stuggle again and he has no such excuse.

...or be told to replace them with the U21's and freebie's...hopefully, he's got a bit of cash and will have scouted in L2/L1/non league...

UTB!

True, but if that is the case then I'm sure he'll let us know. Not much is his fault it seems.
Personally I'd prefer good young players from leagues 1 & 2 who want to play for us rather older players from above. It's those sort of signings that have got us in this mess.

It's the curse of managers everywhere...in every walk of life...

It's reliant on Adkins getting rid of most the squad.

A new manager could do something daft like give them one year extensions.

Your right, a new manager could do something daft like give everyone a clean slate including someone who'd just failed a drug test, not do any homework on the squad, fail to address the previous years weaknesses and think he was so great that he could simply motivate everyone into being better footballers. I wonder which manager might be so stupid to do all that.

The way I look at it is that if he lets mceverley go and replaces him with Burn then that's a step in the right direction. Need to see the replacements before knowing if it's the right decision to keep him
