I love Madine thread

He's on the record as only having an hour in him at the moment. It's surprising to me how technically proficient he is. You can play a 30-40 yard ball into his chest or feet and he'll bring it down and find a team mate. Sharp had acres all night as Villa defenders were drawn to him. Any striker worth their salt at this level would love to play with him.. The away tactic is to hit him earlier and then play football from there, using the counter attacking prowess of Dowell. The best away formula we've had under Wilder thus far.

Had a great game. Less technical than Didsy and he still seems to be finding his feet with our style at times. Think he’ll be a great addition once he is fully embedded.

I did think it was right for him to come off and bring McGoldrick on to try and gain a better more control and possession up top. It’s a shame that when he did, he was poor.

You could argue Madine was a handful for Mings all night and Mings wouldn't have had the freedom to go galloping up for the goal had Madine still been on the pitch.

Loved the moment where he had fallen on the ball in the centre circle and was having the crap kicked out of him by 2 defenders - yet still managed to get a pass away to Billy.

No doubt about his commitment to the cause.

He had a huge impact. Fair play. He could easily have been awarded 2 penalties as soon as he came on. He unsettled their defence by putting himself about. Seemed to tire a bit after his initial big 20 minutes.

Sharp needed that outlet. He was isolated for the whole of the first half.

Once flint went off it was set up for madine to come on and absolutely bully every one of their back 5.

A few good touches and unlucky with a few balls not quite dropping to him. I'm really looking forward to him possibly playing against Wendy because not one of their defenders is going to be any match for him physically.

I've often said that it's a disgrace what Parkinson has professional players do for Bolton. Take Madine, put him in a team of footballers encouraged to play well.. low and behold, turns out the lad can play a bit.

He is a top drawer targetman. Miles better than Hugill. Good on the floor as well.

He's not an outstanding player and he leaves you thinking he should do better , but it just seems to work with him on the pitch !
As for Billy bloody Sharp he just gets better and better the guy is immense

He made a massive difference today. Was exactly what was called for. Don't think we'd have won without him.

Will score in his next 120 minutes of football.

He could easily have been awarded 2 penalties as soon as he came on.

The one in front of goal from the cross possibly might have been one, but the problem with Madine’s penalty appeals is that he generally throws himself to the ground unconvincingly and the officials are wise to it. He either needs to be more convincing, or better still use his considerable strength to play the ball. Thought the ref got the big calls right today, while being overly fussy with the little stuff.

That might look overly critical on Madine, so just so it’s clear I thought his introduction was a key reason why we won that today. He linked very well with those around him, as he has done in all his appearances so far.
