To admit that I was wrong........

Now boys and girls this is a rare occasion.

I must apologise to young Matt Kilgallon (Kilgannon) and Sir Neil Warnock.

When Killa was purchased, I thought Warnock had seriously lost his marbles buying a player that I never rated.

It was nothing against Killa, I just thought for the position we were aiming to play him in (centre half) that he wasn't right.

I thought maybe at LB at most, but even then I was sceptical. I thought I had been proved right with his performances last term and the begining of this one. But now he has come in to his own game and is invaluable to the squad. Had he played this well at the begining of the season too, my player of the season award would be attributed to him.

So hear it is, WELL DONE MATTY AND SIR NEIL FOR PROVING ME WRONG AND THANK YOU

I must concur with pretty much everything that you have said there.

I never rated him when he had been signed, but since the departure of Cahill, Kilgallon has really come into his own and started playing in such a manner that do now trust him and respect him as a quality defender.

At the time, I was apprehensive but thought it was a good buy, mainly because i'd seen him have some cracking games.

I then talked to a Leeds mate of mine, who is a fairly large shareholder and in with the boardroom circles... He reckoned (and his chums were in mass agreement) he was a great player, but struggled with confidence and needed someone dependable, strong and a personality beside him to shine. This was when I began to wonder.

Over the years though, (barring the odd few months) I think Killa has stepped up to the plate and no longer needs the safety net of someone of that ilk beside him. He still needs the confidence (don't most players) but I think he's now matured enough to play off his own back rather than needing someone to hold his hand.

Even early season, he was no where near as poor as people make out.

Keep it up Killa!

Slightly off-topic... but does anyone think that "Killa" is the most inappropriate nickname for this particular young gentleman? :D

Could call him "Kinna" for the BEEB

Always though Killa was a good un....................
however i must apologise to Mr Naysmith the performance he put in on Saturday was magic......... a different player with Blackie.

Well said Robbie. I too was amongst the doubters when Kilkallon first played for us, and wondered if Warnock would have been better spending the money on Smarties.
However, Kilgallon's assured performances this season have changed my mind. Definitely another good NW buy, even if he wasn't around to see Killa coming good.
