I haven't been a 'fan' of McBurnie from the off and I still don't think he's the right type of striker for us, but I am happy to say that tonight was his best performance from him in a Blades shirt. His defensive duties have improved and he deserved his goal too, in what was a great team performance.
He was constantly fouled and hardly got anything from the Ref....again!
Good to see Berge looking the part as well.
Special mention for Osborne also.

Consistency is key. They all need to try and maintain that level of performance

Cold wet midweek trip up t'North for them Suthern Softies - normal service resumed. Some things change, but some stay the same.

Seem to remember it was cold, wet and midweek when we beat them 6-0.
Can we play them again please (oh we are next season!)

If we had the luxury of treasure chests afforded to the likes of the"Big Six" and thus able to splash billions on World-class strikers, we could easily turn our noses up at strikers like McBurnie. With our budget however, he's value for money and offers us a different way of playing that unsettles Prem defenders, and gives Wilder tactical options that keeps us competitive in a League we apparently have no right to be in. With the attacking threat from Robinson's throw-ins, of importance especially given that we miss JOC's marauding runs down that flank, he's a potent threat (even accepting he's no Doc Pace/Mick Jones/Brian Deane-type "header") simply because he takes the attention of 2 or 3 central defenders and creates space for others when the ball's whipped into that critical 12 yard zone.
He works his bollocks off too, bless him. He'll do for me.

Three pretty crucial 'bad' games. In this league, having one bad game is forgivable. Three on the trot isn't, and I doubt we'd be having this nature of conversation had Spurs rolled us over today.

"Perspective" is particularly important and relevant under these unique circumstances. At this level, without Blades fans home or away, in temperatures on a par with a World Cup competition held in effin' Mexico, and with a squad of players already some way below what many football purists would regard as technically qualified further depleted by the absence of "key" players, it's wise to engage the brain's "perspective" gear in order to make reasoned judgements. This is what Chris Wilder, fortunately for us armchair experts, is able to do admirably well.

I could go into details regarding each game, but a diabolical technical fuck-up denied us a win in the 1st game (particularly galling psychologically for us and the players), followed by being reduced to 10 men in the 2nd game, then facing a seriously in-form fully fit Man Utd team & multi-million-squids-squad with our less than full squad in the 3rd game should help you get your head around the perspectives Pommpey.

I'll be really really upset if we didn't use all five subs. I'll be so fudging mad. Using all five subs is very important to me for some reason.

Probably saying it's been a couple of games. Let's see if they can sustain it.

Berge & McBurnie were both top drawer last night (and against Arsenal).

I think it's ok to call the team out when they produce poor performances. I think what isn't acceptable is picking out individuals with stupid comments like they were a waste of money or they'll never be good enough when they haven't been given a proper chance. I think the manager and players have earned a bit of credit in the bank before they deserve stuff like that.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I find it very diffcult to believe that Wilder would part with £42m of the clubs money on two players if he didn't think they would become really good players for us.

We do like a scapegoat at the Lane though don't we?

No - Spurs came up against a team starting to come to terms with these strange circumstances. As Chris Wilder says, we are a club in the truest sense, with all SUFC staff, players and fans (the vast majority of us anyhow) completely dedicated to the cause and singing from the same sheet. Empty stadiums are a pain in the arse for fans and players in perfect harmony, but maybe a welcome relief for some "entitlement" top-teams under pressure because their fans give 'em the bird every time they don't meet lofty expectations. Now, us "Happy Clappers" might not always get things in perspective, but it helps generally to have a grip on reality.
If the sun had been scorching down at pitch level with temperatures around 30 degrees, then I doubt very much that many fans would have fancied us at the Bookies, even at 4/1, but even you might have fancied a bet on the Blades if you'd thought about the form shown in our last match and looked out the window to see the weather conditions. Spurs have never travelled well to the Lane under these conditions down the years, so 4/1 seems at odds with realistic perspective.
Watching Youtube videos of Arsenal and Spurs fan meltdowns might help with perspective too.

I must admit I've been a little sceptical regarding Berge and McBurnie but credit where credits due they both worked there socks off Berge kept the ball well keeping the ball moving with crisp passing McBernie led the line well and both took there goals well I know it's one game but it was against a top team well done to both they deserve it
