While United's team of legal advisors plot the next stage of their campaign to receive financial compensation following last season's controversial relegation from the top-flight, Championship rivals Hull City have launched an ambitious bid to prise Danny Webber away from Bryan Robson's side.

Concerned that Robson could hijack their attempt to sign former Middlesbrough midfielder Juninho, the East Yorkshire club are poised to make an official approach for the former Watford striker in an attempt to exploit the uncertainty surrounding his future following United's move for Scunthorpe's Billy Sharp.

Sources at the KC Stadium claim that Hull manager Phil Brown has identified Webber as the perfect foil for Dean Windass next term.
If, as expected, Sharp completes an emotional return to Bramall Lane later this week, Brown is convinced that Robson could be persuaded to do business.

News of Brown's interest in Webber will add to United's frustration after they learned that the men charged with investigating the FAPL's refusal to deduct West Ham points for a serious and deliberate breach of transfer regulations had opted not to recommend further punishment.

Can't see Webber being involved much next season so I can see him going if the price is right

If the price is right then he would be worth selling.

Rip off Hull for him.

why cant you see him figuring next season?? he's a decent player at championship, how many goals did he score when we were promoted? but then again, we have got hulse, stead, nade and shelton so yeah if the prices right let him go

I wouldn't be too sad to see Nade go out on loan for season, and Stead leaving full stop.

Webber I still think has a lot to offer, PROVIDING his commitment is there.

I think Nade and Stead have alot more to offer than Webber.

Nade has alot of power and could easily cause problems for any defender in the championship. Plus he has a great turn of skill and can take on his man sometimes more than 1 aswell.

Stead has some great skill and his partnership with Hulse could be vital.

As for Webber i think he will really struggle to get back into the team and could be warming the bench most of next season.

Look back Bladesman to the last time we was in the Championship.
How many defenders could cope with Super Danny Webber (do you not remember the chants??)

Stead, well he still doesn't convince me. He scored some important goals for us last season, but I just can't see him being a regular player for us.

Nade I would like to keep as a whole, but send him out on loan to further his devolpment. The only reason Nade takes on defenders currently is because they don't know what he is going to do with the ball, but on the same note, it seems he doesn't either. His finishing is woeful to say the least and his fitness is something to be desired.

Horse get rid of. I was one of the few who said we should not be signing him in the first place.

Shelton again send out on loan to enable him to get used to the English game. He played well in the game against Man United. But I think he is still very raw.

True but that was over a year ago and he has done little since.

Hull confirm Webber intent
By Alex Dunn - Created on 4 Jul 2007

Hull boss Phil Brown has confirmed his interest in Sheffield United striker Danny Webber.

The ambitious Championship club are known to be in the market for several fresh faces, as they look to turn last's season battle to beat the drop into a promotion push next term.

Brown is well aware he needs to add quality to his ranks and as such, is well down the line in his bid to secure Brazilian Juninho, in what would be a noticeable coup.

With Sheffield United having learnt on Tuesday that they will not be reinstated to the Premier League, Brown predicts that new Blades boss Bryan Robson will now begin to shape his squad for next season.

And if Webber is not part of his plans, then Hull would be more than willing to take him, according to Brown.

"There's no bid in for the player yet but we have made an enquiry," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.

"The hearing yesterday could move the parameters a little bit where Sheffield United are concerned. How serious they think our enquiry is, is their business.

"If the question is whether I am interested in him, then the answer is yes.

"But I am still waiting to hear from Bryan Robson from the enquiry we made and we will take things from there."

Robson keen to keep Webber

Sheffield United manager Bryan Robson has insisted there was "no chance"

The 25-year-old had been strongly linked with a move away from Bramall Lane, with Hull among those interested, but Robson is keen to keep hold of the former Watford man.

"Danny will be going nowhere. He's one of the lads I want to keep within the squad and there's no chance of him going anywhere," Robson told the club's website.

Suppose thats good to know.
