Cannot make the game tonight but would like to listen to the commentary. I dont actually own a traditional radio. I have tried listening before on my computer but due to licensing issues it cannot be done. Is this still the case? Could I listen on my phone? Any advice/solutions would be appreciated.

TuneIn Radio app available on iOS or Android.

Doesnt work, still get the restrictions.

I tried multiple things and in the end just ended up paying for BladesPlayer which is useful here in Spain, its only a couple of quid a month and get to listen to all games, interviews etc

None of the usual TuneIn or like will work as BBC Radio Sheffield content block all digital / internet radio due to licensing with club player.

You chat however use the bladeschat / tinychat group that keeps popping up. This page streams the audio however I don't know how much internet / bandwidth this will use.

I have an old Sony mp3 player with an FM radio built in, some phones do too.. Some modern TVs/set top boxes also have a radio option. Or sign up to Bladesplayer?

Slightly off topic, but does anyone have any idea how much of the bladesplayer subscription fee actually goes to the club or whether it's just shared out evenly amongst all the clubs that use it? If the latter is the case then I'll cancel

Yeah I've listened to a few games through my TV (free-view built in)
Think it's something like channel 720?

This - if you are in the FM coverage zone of BBC RS most phones these days have an FM radio - assuming you have attached a set of headphones...

Thanks for the advice. Just to clarify I am Sheffield based and I do have Sky. I had a flick through the radio channels on Sky but couldn't find any regional radio channels.

I may just sign up to bladesplayer then I didnt know they had they live commentary.

Thanks.

Do you get the match comms though?

If this doesn't work, then Bladesplayer works ok RMBlade

Never had a reason to listen to live reports on RS Swiss. I'll tune in tonight and report back. As it stands I'm happy to receive all relevant info from Foxy and the shoutbox.

RM I've got a £30 DAB/FM radio. Doesn't matter which they put us out on, I can get it if there's a match I can't get to.

By the way, I'm not sure if it's still the same now but about 3 years ago me and 3 or 4 mates at different locations were all able to log into Blades Player on one subscription without anyone getting dropped off. Give it a try if you know someone who has it.

You basically have four options.

If you live in an area that can pick up Radio Sheffield on a radio, I'd treat yourself and buy yourself a radio, you've still got 5 hours.

If you live outside the Radio Sheffield area, you can subscribe to Blades Player. This will allow you to listen to the commentary but, as it is usually about a minute behind, you will probably see what is happening on twitter/shoutbox/sky sports news before you hear it.

You can search for anyone streaming radio coverage - there is often a stream done by Paddys the special kid off of Bladesmad - he usually posts a link on there or his twitter. There are sometimes radio streams on the exiled Blades Facebook group too.

Or of course, you can fuck off the Radio, get out your crayons, prep your shoutbox bingo card and join us single cells in the match day shoutbox and follow Foxy and Linz on twitter for real time updates of us wasting another set piece.

I'm a big fan of option 4.

Paddy posts a link on BM to listen through Tinychat

Only use in desperation. It's the audio from his webcam which is pointed at his radio. Terrible sound quality and sometimes his dog won't shut up in the background.

What's going to happen when the country does away with analogue frequencies?

I'm a big fan of option 4.

Option 5

Get to the fecking game :)

I'm a big fan of option 5

Alternatively it's Blades Player and watching Pinchy poke people on the Shout Box

But toneet - it's me and Mrs Ken at The Gas :D

I listened on freeview tv last weekend. It has the same commentary as FM, rather than digital (well it did last week anyway).

Blades player is very expensive feed of RS, so has the added bonus of being constantly dragged away from the blades match for updates from the rust bucket, dingles, rovrum etc. Like people who have paid for it give a shit what is going on at those places.
