How much would they have been worth in today's market at their peak?

Its very hard to tell (having not seen most of them play and sure I'll get some stick here and there!) and quite subjective but here goes:

Currie: £85 million
Deano: £65 million
Hagan: £65 million
Edwards: £20 million (due to most of career spent outside top flight)
Whitehouse: £20 million

Feel free to add other names of valuable players we have had in the past as well

The only one of these I saw play at their Blades "peak" was Whitehouse, and I was very young, so can't really apply what I saw to the modern market.

That said, from what I've read/heard from older blades...surely Hagan would be top of the list in terms of value. I've even heard elderly pigs say he was the finest player to ever play for either sheffield club.

Hagan would be around the £200m mark according to what my dad and grandad said about him.

Edwards wouldn't have been worth more than £5m for exactly the reason you gave.

If the likes of Kodja, Hogan and McCormack fetched fees around the £15m mark I think £20m would be about right for Edwards, though I do think all those players mentioned were overpriced tbf

Hagan has to be higher as when he was 33 years old in 1951, Wendy offered a record British transfer fee

Whitehouse was good but not that good.

How much of a club record transfer fee would we have paid for 45 minutes of John Ebrells time?

What about Tony Oregano as our friend from across the pond referred to him as ? shortly before she stated that we were in the the Champions League.

WTF. Praise or grumble should be re-titled, complete bollox.

They would all be suffering with flu, glandular fever, sun burn right now and then disappear for car boot sale.

Brooks current illness sounds very familiar.

How much would Tony Philiskirk and Laurens Ten Heuvel be worth in today’s market?

Philliskirk scored the only goal of the game at Home Park in the autumn of 1983. We had been completely outplayed that day and really should have lost by at least 3 or 4 nil. But we didn't and Philliskirk headed home his (and our) one chance of the match with virtually no time left on the clock.

At the end of the season we had the same number of points as Hull. We had the same goal difference as them as well. But we had scored more goals than them, so we went up.

That was a very tight season and Philliskirk got us 3 priceless points. (As did Kevin Arnott later in the season, but that's a different tale!)

Philliskirk - worth whatever the value of promotion to the championship is worth. Quite a lot.

D'jaffo would be worth at least £7.50 in today's market, Barry Hales maybe a toffee crisp wrapper.
