Silent did not respond in conversation/PM but made further aggressive posts and cartoons which sent a clear message and that's fine by me. He is not a troll/ shark.

No Woodward he is a good decent bloke . Will you please drop this sillyness . People have a comprehensive dossier on you etc or a good memory is becoming to a point of lunacy .

Please can you drop this , to prevent you looking more foolish , then when you published to all you were leaving the forum , or was that a calculated trap .

Can we stick to the thread post please , as you have said many times . Let's not have the situation from you --- do as I say not as I do .

Thank you .

Fair point my Lord. I didn't necessarily mean publish the PM on here mind you.:(

Watched the Reserves win the Central League and invaded the pitch like everybody else did.

Watched from the pitch as the big silver trophy was presented in John Street stand. 'The' Cec Coldwell held it aloft.

Great day. "Much more silverware to come" thought I.:)

While we tend to think of Utd as under-achievers, and rightly so, at least the repeated relegations have created the chance to have a good number of successful seasons; I guess not many teams have achieved more promotions over this period.

Nice post - seen all the ups and downs since Cec Coldwell led us back to the First Division. It made me think of something my father used to say that the Blades and Wednesday (he never called them pigs) were known as the yo-yo clubs, especially in the fifties. So I wiki'ed yo-yo club and the biggest all-time yo-yo club are Notts County (13 promotions/16 relegations) followed by Grimsby, Birmingham,Leicester and Man City. Locally Barnsley and the piggies come joint 6th (9/9). We have a modest 14 (7/7) and come in 9th. One more and we go level with Portsmouth,Derby and Watford.

That's not right: we have 10 promotions: 1893, 1939, 1953, 1961, 1971, 1982, 1984, 1989, 1990 and 2006

And 11 relegations: 1934, 1949, 1956, 1968, 1976, 1979, 1981, 1988, 1994, 2007 and 2011.

And the Pigs have been promoted at 11 times.and relegated 12.

We did play three 1st division league games in the 1939-40 season. We won two and drew one. 2nd in the table behind Blackpool on the day before Britain declared war so the league season was suspended

We would have been the team of the Forties,Jimmy Hagan in his prime for all the decade,if Neville Chamberlain wasn't such a naff negotiator,it would have been a trophy laden ten years
